The Opportunity

As an Admissions Operations Specialist in Cornell University's Undergraduate Admissions Office (UAO), you will play a vital role in supporting prospective students from around the world by processing application materials, maintaining data integrity, supporting international admissions operations, and providing exceptional service to applicants, families, and school counselors.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment, has strong attention to detail, and takes pride in handling sensitive information with accuracy and confidentiality.

Responsibilities:

  • Process undergraduate application materials and supporting documents for first-year andtransferapplicants

  • Review, analyze, enter, andmaintainapplicant data in admissions systems

  • Review transcripts and other educational documents todeterminewhether materials meet application requirements, verifying the accuracy and completeness of application records and admissions checklists

  • Reconcile data discrepancies and support data quality initiatives within admissions systems.

  • Maintain the confidentiality and integrity of student records and admissions data

  • Assistwith administrative processes related to international student enrollment: support review of financial documentationsubmittedby admitted international students

  • Serve as a Designated School Official (DSO) upon completion of required training, managing international student records and supporting compliance with federal immigration regulations

  • Communicate with studentsregardingadmissions, enrollment, and financial aid-related questions, resolving routine issues and appropriately escalating complex concerns

  • Collaborate with campus partners to support international student enrollment

  • Provide guidance on admissions procedures, application requirements, deadlines, andapplicant portalnavigation, delivering professional, patient, and service-oriented support throughout the admissions cycle

  • Support process improvement efforts and helpidentifydata quality issues within admissions systems

About Unit

The Undergraduate Admissions Office (UAO) provides leadership for prospect management, student recruitment and communication, admissions social media, application processing, the prospective student visit experience, yield strategy and coordination, market research, long-range planning, and admissions volunteer engagement. UAO also directs university-wide enrollment efforts for special populations, including the recruitment, selection, and enrollment of underrepresented students and international students.

What We Need

  • Associate’s degree and 2-4 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills

  • Professional demeanor, excellent communication skills, both oral and written

  • Demonstrated experience working in a high volume/high pressure environment is strongly preferred

  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion

  • Experience with educational systems and documents, transcripts and working with sensitive and confidential information
