Information Technologies’ Desktop Services Team supports the academic and administrative mission at Cornell. We provide secure, high-quality, reliable, and responsive technology services. We provide support that enables our campus community to engage in innovative teaching, cutting-edge research, and efficient administrative processes. We strive to maintain a focus on the experience of the people using technology.

What will you do:

As a member of the Central IT Support Group (CITSG) Desktop Support team, reporting to the Desktop Support Manager, the IT Procurement and Lifecycle Management Coordinator is tasked with procuring hardware and software, managing the lifecycle of devices, communicating with customers, and reporting to the CITSG Desktop Support team technicians, engineers, and its customer base.

The position works with customers and IT support staff to:

  • Procure computer equipment and software in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Coordinate with Desktop Support staff to plan and implement customer device deployments and replacements.
  • Work with customer departments to forecast their computer and software needs.
  • Create a physical inventory check processes and keep on-hand inventory well-organized and secure.
  • Provide (as part of one of Cornell University’s central service providers) continual engagement with unit IT Service Groups and Procurement staff to collaborate and consolidate processes across the university.

To perform successfully, the position collaborates with Desktop Support Technicians. A team-oriented approach, strong problem-solving abilities, customer service skills, organizational aptitude, time-management proficiency, attention to detail, and effective communication skills are essential.

This position requires on-site work at the Ithaca, NY location from Monday to Friday during standard business hours, from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Additionally, there may be occasional requirements to work outside standard university core work hours.

Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree with 4-6 years of related experience; OR, equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Experience and knowledge in the following areas required:
    • Inventory/Asset Management
    • Purchasing and Procurement
    • Strong Customer Relationship experience
  • Strong customer service, interpersonal, and relationship building skills. An ability to establish and maintain excellent rapport with individuals and/or departments.

  • Able to communicate effectively and professionally verbally and in writing to audiences at all levels of the organization.
  • Attention to detail and ability to thoroughly document issues and problems.
  • Self-motivated ability to develop an in-depth understanding of a broad range of enterprise IT services, applications, and technologies.
  • Must demonstrate well-developed problem-solving abilities, analytical, reasoning, and judgment skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to acquire and maintain a working knowledge of a wide range of applications/systems, in a highly dynamic environment, is essential.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid New York State driver's license. Out-of-state employees must obtain and provide proof of a NYS license within 30 days of starting employment; may be required to operate a motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience with purchasing and procurement at Cornell University
  • Experience with TeamDynamix trouble ticketing system a plus.
  • Familiarity with Cornell University’s IT environment.
  • Experience with MS Office 365.
