Building upon foundational engineering experience, this mid-level role involves greater responsibility in project coordination, design optimization, and mentoring of junior engineers. Engineers are expected to independently manage moderately complex projects, ensuring designs meet structural code requirements, manufacturing standards, and customer expectations.\nESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES\nProven ability to work independently with minimal supervision, managing individual projects from start to finish while meeting critical deadlines.\nGood understanding of structural engineering principles, with the ability to apply and adapt company design standards to unique and custom-building conditions.\nProficiency in using structural design software and a willingness to continuously expand technical knowledge, particularly in the customization of tools for non-standard applications.\nGenerate design packages, review drawings and material lists.\nAdhere to project schedules, effectively managing shifting priorities and last-minute revisions to maintain on-time delivery.\nCommunicate effectively with cross-functional team members to promptly identify, escalate, and resolve design challenges.\nCoordinate with drafting, estimating, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility and efficiency.\nExercise sound engineering judgment to ensure public safety, balancing efficiency with appropriate design conservatism.\nDemonstrate a strong understanding of the broader project lifecycle and remain flexible in contributing beyond core responsibilities when necessary.\nAbility to mentor and review the work of junior engineers to ensure accuracy and adherence to design standards.\nManage multiple project schedules and adjust to shifting priorities while maintaining design quality.\nIdentify opportunities for design improvements and cost reduction through innovative engineering solutions.\nActively pursue ongoing professional development with the goal of obtaining and maintaining a Professional Engineering (PE) license.\n Bachelor’s degree in civil or Structural Engineering (or related field).\n2 plus years of relevant experience in metal building design or structural engineering.\nEngineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is strongly recommended; active pursuit of Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is preferred.\nProficient in structural design and modeling software (e.g., RISA, STAAD, AutoCAD, or equivalent).\nGood understanding of structural mechanics and steel design principles.\nProficient in applicable codes and standards (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7, AISC).\nKnowledgeable in design standards and design software’s\nUnder the guidance of senior engineers, this role will involve learning methods to reduce manufacturing and drafting costs, enhance ease of erection, and increase overall value to the customer.\nA key responsibility includes the application and adherence to relevant industry codes and standards to ensure regulatory compliance.\nStrong attention to detail and willingness to learn proprietary systems and codes.\nEffective communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced engineering environment.\nIt is required to expand personal knowledge of the Cornerstone Engineering design standards and learn to adapt the design software to unusual custom conditions required by customers. \n All your information will be kept confidential according to EEO guidelines.\nWhy work for Cornerstone Building Brands?\nOur teams are at the heart of our purpose to positively contribute to the communities where we live, work and play.
