Experience in laboratory development, programme coordination, student supervision, and collaboration with utilities, grid operators, or renewable energy organisations will be considered an asset.\nQualifications\nApplicants must meet the following requirements:\nHold a PhD in Electrical Engineering, specialising in Power Systems or Power Electronics, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a closely related discipline.\nDemonstrate a strong academic record in teaching, research, and scholarly publications within power and renewable energy engineering.\nPossess relevant expertise in power systems, renewable energy technologies, power electronics, or energy storage.\nDemonstrate the ability to develop and deliver practice based engineering education, integrating theoretical knowledge with laboratory applications.\nExperience in industry collaboration, applied research, or consultancy within the energy sector is desirable.\nRelevant professional certifications in electrical power engineering, renewable energy, or related areas will be considered an asset.\nExperience Requirements\nAssistant Professor: Minimum of 2 years of undergraduate teaching experience at a university ranked among the top 300 in the QS World University Rankings, with demonstrated experience in curriculum development and supervision of undergraduate graduation projects.\nAssociate Professor: Minimum of 5 years of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience at a university ranked among the top 500 in the QS World University Rankings, with a strong record of research publications and MSc/PhD supervision. Familiarity with ABET accreditation standards and processes is preferred.\nCandidates with experience in developing engineering laboratories, establishing industry partnerships, or contributing to academic programme development are particularly encouraged to apply.\nTeaching Areas\nSuccessful candidates will contribute to teaching and curriculum development across key areas of Power & Renewable Energy Engineering, including:\nSolar and Wind Energy: Renewable energy generation, system design, modelling, and performance optimisation.\nElectric Machines: Principles, operation, control, and applications of electrical machines.\nElectrical Drives and Converters: Power electronic converters, motor drives, and energy conversion technologies.\nEnergy Conversion and Storage: Energy conversion systems, battery technologies, and energy storage integration.\nPower Transmission and Distribution: Electrical power networks, system protection, and distribution technologies.\nPower Quality: Power system performance, reliability, harmonics, and power quality improvement.\nSmart Grids: Intelligent power networks, renewable energy integration, distributed generation, and grid modernisation.\nCandidates should be able to integrate practical laboratory activities, engineering simulation tools, and industry relevant case studies into their teaching.\nResearch Focus\nSuccessful candidates are expected to conduct high quality, impactful research and contribute to the University's research and innovation objectives, with an anticipated output of 2 to 5 publications in reputable peer reviewed journals, preferably Q1/Q2 Scopus indexed journals, commensurate with academic rank and institutional expectations.\nPriority research themes include:\nRenewable Energy Integration: Integration of solar, wind, and distributed renewable energy resources into electrical power systems.\nSmart Grids and Grid Modernisation: Intelligent monitoring, control, protection, and optimisation of electrical networks.\nEnergy Storage Technologies: Battery energy storage, hybrid systems, and innovative approaches to energy management.\nPower Electronics and Energy Conversion: Advanced converters, electrical drives, and efficient power conversion technologies.\nSustainable Smart Cities: Energy efficiency, intelligent infrastructure, and sustainable urban energy systems.\nResearch activities should support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly:\nSDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy\nSDG 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure\nSDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities\nSDG 13: Climate Action\nKey Responsibilities\nServe as a subject matter expert in Power & Renewable Energy Engineering, supporting the Programme Chair in academic operations, curriculum alignment, and programme development.\nDeliver high quality undergraduate teaching and postgraduate teaching where applicable, maintaining updated course materials, effective assessment practices, and timely grading.\nSupervise undergraduate graduation projects, student internships, and postgraduate research where applicable, while providing academic advising and student support.\nContribute to curriculum design, course development, programme assessment, and continuous improvement in accordance with CUD academic standards and relevant accreditation requirements.\nLead and support the development of specialised laboratories in power systems, power electronics, and renewable energy, including equipment selection, experiment design, laboratory procedures, and safety standards.\nConduct original research, publish in reputable academic journals, and pursue research collaborations with academic institutions and industry partners.\nEstablish and maintain relationships with utilities, energy companies, renewable energy developers, and professional organisations to strengthen industry engagement and experiential learning.\nParticipate in academic governance, programme accreditation activities, faculty meetings, institutional committees, and professional development initiatives.\nSupport student engagement, academic success, and professional development through mentoring and participation in academic and extracurricular activities.\nContribute to community outreach, sustainability initiatives, professional conferences, and activities that enhance CUD's academic and research profile.\nAbout CUD\nEstablished in 2006, Canadian University Dubai is one of the most promising universities in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia region.
