Our programs produce job-ready graduates who are prepared to contribute from day one.\nAbout the program\nWe are proactively hiring Teaching Assistants (TAs) for the Data Analytics track of a new, fully virtual training-to-jobs program for young people in Somalia. The program prepares learners for remote and online work with employers worldwide, including entry-level data analyst, reporting analyst, and data operations roles.\nLearners will build practical skills in cleaning, analyzing, and visualizing data to answer business questions, and will finish with portfolio projects they can show to employers.\nSchedule and cohort size: We are finalizing the program dates, live session days and times, and cohort size, and will share them with shortlisted candidates before any commitment is made. Live sessions will be scheduled during East Africa Time (EAT) hours, so please tell us your general availability when you apply.\nYour impact\nTAs give learners close, personal support so no one falls behind. You will help a small group of learners understand the material, practice it, and build the habits remote employers look for, and you will step in early when a learner's attendance or progress starts to slip.\nA day in the life\nOnboarding (pre-program)\nAttend and actively take part in the mandatory pre-program TA onboarding, where we walk through the program, set you up on our platforms, and share all training materials.\nDuring live sessions\nMonitor the program's Pumble or Slack channels and answer learner questions promptly.\nCommunicate clearly with learners in English, and in Somali when needed.\nFacilitate breakout rooms during lectures, when applicable.\nCheck in with learners after each live session to see how they are finding the content and what needs more explanation.\nHelp keep the session running if the Lead Instructor experiences technical difficulties or is otherwise unable to deliver the lecture.\nWhen assigned to cover a live lecture, be present throughout and address learner questions.\nOn days without live sessions\nAnswer learner questions on Pumble or Slack within 24 hours.\nFoster discussion by posing questions and sharing useful resources in the appropriate Pumble or Slack channels.\nReview upcoming materials (labs, projects, extended cases) so you are ready to answer learner questions.\nHold individual office hours each week so learners can ask questions and get extra support.\nGrade learner exercises and projects within seven days of submission, with clear, encouraging feedback.\nRecord short video walkthroughs for asynchronous assignments, such as extended cases and portfolio tasks.\nReach out to learners who miss sessions or fall behind, and flag concerns to the Correlation One team early.\nSubmit a weekly write-up summarizing the week's progress and challenges, with insights on each learner and suggested improvements.\nAttend the weekly staff meeting with the Correlation One team and other TAs, with your camera on.\nYour expertise (requirements)\nProfessional working proficiency in both Somali and English, spoken and written, with the ability to explain technical content in both.\nA Data Analytics professional with 3+ years of experience in data analytics, business intelligence, or a related role.\nWorking experience with, and the ability to explain:\nExcel: formulas, lookups, pivot tables, data cleaning, and charts\nSQL: querying, filtering, joins and aggregations\nPython: data analysis with pandas\nData visualization and dashboards: Tableau or Power BI\nStrong leadership, communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.\nEmpathy, flexibility and patience, and a passion for working with learners who are new to data analytics.\nExperience working in a fully virtual environment, and comfortable with Zoom, Pumble or Slack and online learning platforms.\nPreferred\nPrior teaching, tutoring, or mentoring experience with adult learners.\nAn analytics certification, such as Microsoft Certified: Power BI Data Analyst Associate (PL-300), Tableau Certified Data Analyst or the Google Data Analytics Certificate.\nArabic proficiency and familiarity with Maay as well as standard Somali.\nFamiliarity with the Somali context, including how young people in Somalia access education, connectivity, and remote work.\nWhere you are\nThis role is remote and open to candidates anywhere, provided you can reliably support learners during EAT program hours.\nCompensation\nThe compensation for this position is specific to location and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions.
