Working alongside our Sydney-based team of passionate high achievers, you’ll join a fast-growing technology business where things rarely stay the same for long - and if you’re smart, caring, and ambitious, you’ll be in great company.\nMeet the Quality Engineering team\nYou'll join the Quality Engineering function within our Accounting group, focused on ensuring the quality and reliability of CORTO's next generation of accounting products for legal professionals. This team supports CORTO's brand-new accounting solutions and accounting functionality.\nThe environment is fast-moving and product-heavy, with multiple new products and features being built from the ground up. You'll work across greenfield initiatives and evolving platforms, contributing to automation, improving quality practices and helping the team scale quality as the product portfolio grows.\nWhat you’ll do\nAs a Quality Engineer, you'll play a hands-on role in ensuring the quality of CORTO's accounting and AI-driven products. You'll work closely with Senior Quality Engineers, developers, Product Managers and DevOps engineers to test new products and features, contribute to automation, identify quality risks and ensure releases are reliable. You'll be encouraged to take ownership of your work while continuing to develop your technical skills across automation, APIs, web applications, CI/CD and AI-enabled products.\nTo make this happen you will\nDesign, develop, execute and maintain automated tests across web and API applications. \nContribute to existing test automation frameworks using languages such as TypeScript, JavaScript and Python. \nPerform functional, regression, smoke and exploratory testing across new and existing products and features. \nCreate clear and maintainable automated tests that follow established QE standards and patterns. \nTest backend services and APIs, including validating requests, responses, integrations and data. \nWork closely with developers to investigate defects, understand technical changes and identify potential quality risks. \nParticipate in requirements refinement and technical discussions to help identify test scenarios and quality risks early. \nContribute automated tests to CI/CD pipelines and help investigate failures within automated test runs. \nParticipate in code reviews and use feedback from Senior QEs and developers to continuously improve test code. \nClearly document defects, test coverage, risks and testing outcomes. \nContribute to improving QE processes, automation coverage and testing practices across the team. \nSupport the testing of AI-enabled features using established tools and approaches. \nShare knowledge with other engineers and actively participate in team learning and collaboration.\nWhat you’ll bring\nHands-on experience in software testing across web applications and APIs. \nPractical experience creating and maintaining automated tests. \nWorking knowledge of at least one programming or scripting language, ideally TypeScript, JavaScript or Python. \nExperience with modern web or API automation tools and frameworks. \nUnderstanding of API testing, including HTTP requests, responses, status codes and common API behaviours. \nExperience performing functional, regression, smoke and exploratory testing. \nA good understanding of software testing principles, test design and defect management. \nExperience using version control such as Git and working within modern software development workflows. \nSome experience working with CI/CD pipelines and understanding how automated tests fit into the development and release process. \nAbility to investigate failures and defects and work with developers to determine likely causes. \nAbility to understand product requirements and translate them into appropriate test scenarios. \nGood written and verbal communication skills. \nAbility to work independently on defined pieces of work while knowing when to seek guidance. \nA proactive approach to learning and improving your technical skills. \nA genuine interest in product quality and quality engineering.\nEven better if you have\nExperience testing AI-enabled or AI-driven applications. \nExperience using Playwright or similar modern web automation technologies. \nExperience with automated API testing. \nExposure to non-functional testing such as performance, load or reliability testing. \nFamiliarity with cloud platforms such as AWS. \nExperience working with data-heavy, financial or accounting applications. \nAn interest in using AI tools to improve software testing.\nYou are the type of person who\nTakes ownership of your work and follows tasks through to completion. \nIs curious and enjoys understanding how products work, not just whether a test passes or fails. \nCommunicates clearly with developers, QEs and other members of the product team. \nIs comfortable asking questions and challenging assumptions when something does not look right. \nEnjoys investigating problems and finding their underlying cause. \nCares about writing reliable, maintainable automated tests. \nIs comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where requirements and priorities may evolve. \nIs open to feedback and actively looks for opportunities to improve. \nEnjoys sharing knowledge and collaborating with other members of the team. \nHas a strong interest in developing further as a Quality Engineer.\nCORTO is an inclusive, people-first company committed to breaking down institutional barriers that keep people from reaching their potential.
