This pivotal role focuses on embedding quality throughout the software development lifecycle by partnering closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to build quality in from the earliest stages of development.\nLeveraging deep expertise in test automation, quality assurance practices, and modern delivery pipelines, the Senior QA Engineer will guide teams in adopting effective testing strategies, improving automation coverage, reducing production risk, and delivering exceptional customer experiences. The role combines hands-on technical expertise with strong leadership, coaching, and collaboration skills to continuously raise the quality maturity of engineering teams.\nThe Senior QA Engineer can be based in either Sydney or Melbourne.\nWhat You'll Do\nChampion shift-left testing practices and embed quality throughout the software development lifecycle.\nDesign, implement, and maintain automated testing frameworks across web, API, and mobile platforms using tools such as Cypress, Playwright, Cucumber, and Postman.\nDrive effective testing strategies that balance unit, integration, API, end-to-end, accessibility, and exploratory testing.\nPartner with Engineers, Product Managers, and Designers to identify risks early, improve testability, and ensure quality is considered during solution design.\nCoach and mentor engineers on quality engineering best practices, automation, and effective testing approaches.\nDrive continuous improvement of quality standards, tooling, and processes.\nAdvise on best practices for embedding automated testing and quality gates into CI/CD pipelines.\nFoster a culture of shared ownership for quality by enabling teams to build, test, and release software with confidence.\nSupport and guide non-functional testing practices, including performance, security, and accessibility testing.\nIdeally You'll Have\nA degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline.\nExtensive experience implementing shift-left and quality assistance testing methodologies within agile product development environments.\nStrong expertise in quality engineering across frontend, backend, API, mobile, and end-to-end, including experience with Cypress, Playwright, Cucumber, Postman, and related tooling.\nExperience working with CI/CD pipelines, Jenkins, Github and modern software delivery practices.\nStrong understanding of software architecture, quality risks, and testability considerations.\nProven experience influencing engineering teams and coaching developers to adopt quality engineering best practices and shared ownership of quality.\nExcellent communication, collaboration, stakeholder management, and organisational skills, with the ability to influence teams without direct authority.\nFamiliarity with non-functional testing principles, including performance, security, accessibility and reliability testing.\nFamiliarity with AI-assisted software development, AI testing tools, and quality engineering practices for validating AI-generated code is optional but will be highly regarded.\nWhat's Next?\nWe'll give your application the thoughtful attention it deserves and get back to you as soon as possible.
