By equipping the brightest minds with the best resources available, we provide an invaluable edge in real estate.\nLearn more about CoStar.\nRole Description:\nWe are seeking a Security Engineering Intern to join our team, where you'llgain hands-on experience in a large enterprise cybersecurity program in areas such as vulnerability management, endpoint security, threat detection, security controls, and emerging areas such as AI security.\nCoStar Group’s Security Engineering internship program provides hands-on experience through three workstreams:\n1. Develop a working prototype to solve a cybersecurity challenge.\n2. Perform cybersecurity operationssuch as responding to alerts, analyzing findings, or tuning controls.\n3. Assist in a cybersecurity projectwhile learning from experienced team members and building a foundation in modern cybersecurity practices.\nEach intern is paired with a dedicated mentor to support technical development, career growth, and day-to-day learning throughout the program. This internship is designed to provide exposure to the types of work performed by Security Engineers and help prepare students for future careers in cybersecurity.\nThis position is located inRichmond, VA and offers a schedule ofMonday to Thursday in officeand the optionto work from home on Friday.\nTechnologies & Security Areas You May Explore\nAt CoStar Group, our Security Engineering team uses a variety of tools and technologies to help identify, prevent, detect, and respond to cybersecurity risks across the enterprise. Depending on the team and project, interns may gain exposure to:\nVulnerability scanning and vulnerability management tools\n\nEndpoint security technologies\n\nSecurity monitoring and incident response processes\n\nSecurity tool integrations and automation\n\nIdentity and access management concepts\n\nCloud and infrastructure security concepts\n\nScripting and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar technologies\n\nAI security and emerging cybersecurity technologies\n\nBasic Qualifications:\nCurrently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from an accredited, not-for-profit university or college in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a comparable major.\n\nMust be planning to return to school following the completion of the Summer 2027 internship.\n\nMust have an expected graduation date of December 2027- June 2028.\n\nMinimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.\n\nDemonstrated interest in cybersecurity through personal endeavors outside of undergraduate degree program\n\nAvailable to participatein the full 10-week summer internship program and commit to a 40-hour work week throughout the internship.\n\nCoursework, project, internship, research, or work experience related to cybersecurity, networking, operating systems, cloud computing, scripting, automation, system administration, or comparable technical disciplines.\n\nAbility to communicate technical information clearly in written and verbal formats.\n\nStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.\n\nPreferred Qualifications and Experiences:\nAbility to describe cybersecurity concepts such as vulnerability management, endpoint security, network security, authentication, access controls, or incident response.\n\nExposure toscripting or automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.\n\nFamiliarity with Windows, Linux, networking, or cloud environments.\n\nDemonstrated initiative through cybersecurity projects, coursework, research, clubs, competitions, or extracurricular activities.\n\nExperience collaborating on academic, project, research, or team-based work.\n\nExposure to AI, machine learning, automation, or AI security concepts through coursework, projects, internships, or personal learning.\n\nSecurity certifications or coursework such as Security+, Network+, CySA+, or comparable cybersecurity training are a plus.\n\nWhat’sin it for you?\nWhen you join CoStar Group, you’llexperience a collaborative and innovative culture working alongside the best and brightest to empower our people and customers to succeed.\nThe final salary or hourly rate offered for this role will fall within the range set forth below based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, geographic location, skills, and competencies.\nBase Compensation: $40 - $45 (Hourly)\nWe welcome all qualified candidates who are currently eligible to work full-time in the United States to apply.
