This role combines expertise in application architecture, workflow orchestration, and enterprise platforms with AI-assisted engineering tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) to accelerate solution design, code generation, and SDLC execution.\nThe architect will support the Payment BU Workflow Intelligence & Orchestration Initiative, collaborating on client inquiry and payment workflows, while contributing to a Center of Excellence (CoE) for AI-enabled workflow development - delivering scalable, secure, reusable, and AI-augmented solutions while minimizing technical debt and avoiding vendor lock-in.\nResponsibilities\nDefine architectural standards, patterns, and best practices for workflow platforms, including guardrails for AI-assisted development and code generation.\nLeverage AI tools (Claude, Copilot) to accelerate design, code generation, and documentation, with strong validation and oversight.\nDesign scalable, secure, and maintainable workflow solutions aligned to business needs and AI-driven decisioning.\nDefine AI-assisted development patterns (prompt design, validation, governance) for workflow behavior and generated code.\nArchitect solutions across open-source workflow engines (Temporal.io, Camunda, Flowable, JBPM, Drools) and custom services.\nDesign event-driven and service-based architectures using Java-based ecosystems and modern integration patterns.\nContribute to a Workflow CoE, driving governance, reusability, performance, and AI-native standards.\nCollaborate across product, infrastructure, security, data, and AI teams to integrate AI into workflows and SDLC processes.\nSupport CI/CD, DevSecOps, and cloud-native deployments (OpenShift, AWS), including validation of AI-generated code and workflows.\nProvide technical leadership, code/design reviews, and enforce engineering rigor in AI-assisted environments.\nThis job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and is not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required. This job description does not constitute an employment agreement and is subject to change as the needs of Cotiviti and the requirements of the job change.\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.\n10+ years of application architecture experience with enterprise-scale systems.\nStrong expertise in workflow orchestration, distributed systems, and integration design.\nExperience with open-source workflow engines (Temporal.io, Camunda, Flowable, JBPM, Drools).\nStrong development background in Java-based ecosystems and microservices architectures.\nExperience with databases such as Oracle and PostgreSQL, including performance tuning and optimization.\nExperience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and container platforms (OpenShift, Kubernetes, AWS).\nExperience using AI-assisted development tools (Copilot, Claude).\nStrong knowledge of APIs, security (SSO, RBAC), and scalable system design.\nFamiliarity with Agile practices (SAFe preferred) and strong communication skills.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in AI-native SDLC environments.\nKnowledge of governance for AI-generated code and workflows.\nExperience designing multi-platform workflow architectures.\nBackground in Healthcare IT or payment integrity systems.\nMental Requirements:\nAbility to work with different teams in different cultures. \nAbility to rapidly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technologies. \nAbility to balance the long-term (\"big picture\") and short-term implications of individual decisions. \nAbility to translate business needs into architecture requirements. \nAbility to articulate advanced technical topics to both technical and non-technical staff. \nAbility to articulate business issues/concerns with staff, peers, superiors, and outside parties (e.g., vendors, partners). \nAbility to estimate the financial impact of architecture alternatives. \nWorking Conditions and Physical Requirements:\nRemaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods. \nCommunicating with others to exchange information. \nRepeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. \nAssessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned. \nMust have high-speed internet access / connectivity and office setup and maintenance. (If remote). \nMust be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area. \nNo adverse environmental conditions expected. \nBase compensation ranges from $160,000 to $185,000 per year. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
