You will work directly with our campus teams throughout the year to strengthen instructor effectiveness, develop instructional leadership, support curriculum implementation, and promote consistent, high-quality aviation maintenance education.\nThis is a highly visible, hands-on role for someone who brings together aviation maintenance expertise, instructional experience, and a passion for developing other educators. Through campus visits, classroom and laboratory observations, individualized coaching, workshops, and ongoing partnership, you will help our instructors and Program Coordinators strengthen their skills and ultimately improve the student learning experience, retention, certification preparation, and outcomes.\nWhat You’ll Do\nDevelop & Coach AMT Instructors\nDeliver onboarding and hands-on training for newly hired Aviation Maintenance Technician Instructors.\nCoach instructors on instructional best practices, classroom management, student engagement, adult learning principles, and effective teaching strategies.\nObserve classroom and laboratory instruction and provide timely, developmental feedback.\nPartner with instructors to create individualized professional development plans and provide ongoing coaching to reinforce growth.\nFacilitate instructor workshops, webinars, and professional development sessions throughout the year.\nSupport instructors with lesson planning, instructional resources, assessments, classroom technology, and curriculum implementation.\nDevelop & Support Program Coordinators\nServe as a mentor and coach for assigned Aviation Maintenance Technician Program Coordinators.\nHelp Program Coordinators strengthen their instructional leadership, faculty development, and coaching capabilities.\nSupport instructor observations, performance improvement initiatives, and implementation of new instructional standards.\nShare successful practices across campuses to promote consistency and continuous improvement.\nSupport Curriculum & Learning Product Initiatives\nSupport the development and implementation of curriculum updates, instructional resources, educational technology, and Learning Product initiatives.\nTrain instructors and Program Coordinators on new curriculum, policies, procedures, instructional tools, and educational platforms.\nPromote instructional consistency while helping campuses effectively utilize available equipment and resources.\nHelp ensure instructional delivery remains aligned with FAA Part 147 requirements, accreditation standards, institutional policies, and approved curriculum.\nPartner With Our Campuses\nTravel regularly to assigned campuses to provide hands-on instructional coaching, mentoring, and operational support.\nPartner with campus leadership to identify instructional strengths and opportunities for improvement.\nRecommend strategies to strengthen student engagement, retention, certification preparation, and instructional quality.\nAssist campuses with preparation for accreditation reviews, FAA inspections, curriculum implementations, and other educational initiatives.\nSupport instructors and Program Coordinators through organizational change and the implementation of new processes.\nContribute Across the Organization\nBuild collaborative relationships with Campus Executive Directors, Directors of Education, Program Coordinators, and Home Office leadership.\nHelp develop instructor training materials, facilitator guides, instructional resources, and professional development content.\nIdentify instructional trends and recommend improvements that strengthen educational quality across AIM campuses.\nParticipate in special projects supporting Learning Product initiatives and organizational priorities.\nThis position does not directly supervise campus employees. Instead, the Technical Training Manager works through coaching, mentoring, instructional guidance, professional development, and influence to help campus instructional teams succeed.\nWhat You’ll Bring\nRequired\nCurrent FAA Mechanic Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Ratings\nMinimum of five years of aviation maintenance industry experience\nStrong knowledge of FAA Part 147 regulations and aviation maintenance education\nDemonstrated ability to coach, mentor, train, and develop others\nStrong presentation, facilitation, and communication skills\nAbility to build trust and influence others without direct supervisory authority\nAbility to manage relationships and priorities across multiple geographically dispersed campuses\nAbility and willingness to travel 80-100%, including overnight travel\nValid driver’s license and ability to travel by automobile and commercial airline\nResidence within daily driving distance of an Aviation Institute of Maintenance campus\nPreferred\nFive or more years of instructional experience with demonstrated instructional leadership\nAssociate’s degree preferred; Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred\nExperience with classroom management, lesson planning, instructional facilitation, student assessment, and educator development\nExperience implementing new curriculum, instructional initiatives, technologies, or organizational change\nWorking knowledge of accreditation standards and compliance requirements\nExperience with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, Canvas, and other educational technology platforms\nDesignated Mechanic Examiner (DME)\nNCATT AET Certification\nFAA Inspection Authorization (IA)\nAdditional instructional certifications\nWork Environment & Travel\nThis is a remote, field-based position requiring extensive travel to Aviation Institute of Maintenance campuses. The successful candidate must live within daily driving distance of at least one AIM campus.\nTravel is expected to be approximately 80-100% and will include frequent overnight travel.
