We are building the foundational technology that will evolve into a comprehensive advertising ecosystem spanning demand-side platforms (DSP), supply-side platforms (SSP), ad exchanges, and AI-powered marketing solutions that connect advertisers with customers across the open internet.\nWhat You Will Do\nDesign and build machine learning models and systems that improve ad targeting, ranking, bidding, and campaign performance across Coupang's Offsite Ads platform.\nDevelop large-scale prediction and optimization models, including CTR, CVR, GMV, and bidding optimization.\nApply modern AI technologies such as LLMs, embeddings, agentic AI, and deep learning to solve complex advertising challenges.\nBuild scalable ML infrastructure and production systems that enable rapid experimentation and reliable model deployment.\nDefine success metrics, evaluate business impact, and continuously improve model performance through data-driven experimentation.\nPartner closely with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and business teams to solve high-impact customer and advertiser problems.\nDrive projects from concept to production with strong ownership and accountability for business outcomes.\nMentor engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and continuous learning.\nBasic Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related quantitative field.\n6+ years of industry experience developing and deploying machine learning solutions in production environments.\nStrong foundation in machine learning, deep learning, statistical modeling, optimization, and large-scale data systems.\nHands-on experience developing production-grade ML systems using Python and/or Java.\nStrong experience with PyTorch and modern deep learning architectures for prediction, ranking, recommendation, retrieval, or optimization problems.\nDemonstrated ability to solve complex and ambiguous business problems through data-driven analysis and machine learning innovation.\nProven track record of owning large technical initiatives and delivering measurable business impact.\nPreferred Qualifications\nMaster's degree or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.\nExperience in digital advertising, recommendation systems, ranking systems, marketplace optimization, or large-scale machine learning.\nExperience with modern AI technologies, including LLMs, generative AI, embedding models, retrieval systems, or agentic AI.\nStrong expertise in PyTorch and developing large-scale production machine learning systems.\nExperience with distributed training, model serving, and ML platforms in cloud environments.\nFamiliarity with ML tools and frameworks such as PyTorch, XGBoost, LightGBM, Scikit-learn, MLflow, Kubeflow, Spark, and Airflow.\nDemonstrated ability to solve ambiguous problems, drive technical strategy, and deliver measurable business impact.\nStrong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions.\nComfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with a strong sense of ownership and customer focus.\nPay & Benefits\nOur compensation reflects the cost of living across several US geographic markets. At Coupang, your base pay is one part of your total compensation.\nThe base pay for Staff position ranges from $164K/year to $282K/year.
