Join Coupang now to create an epic experience in this always-on, high-tech, and hyper-connected world.\nRole Overview\nWe are looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Security Engineering to lead the design and development of internal platforms, tools, and automation that help protect sensitive data across the organization. \nThis role is ideal for a software engineer who enjoys building scalable backend systems, working with large-scale data platforms, and partnering with security, privacy, compliance, and engineering teams. You will help improve how the company discovers, reviews, governs, and reduces sensitive data exposure through well-designed software systems and automation. \nWhat You Will Do\nDesign and build internal platforms and tools to support sensitive data discovery, review workflows, access governance, risk tracking, and remediation. \nDevelop backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and automation workflows that help teams identify, analyze, and reduce sensitive data exposure. \nIntegrate with large-scale data systems such as object storage, databases, data warehouses, streaming platforms, metadata systems, and production services. \nWork closely with security, data platform, and product engineering teams to translate business and risk requirements into practical engineering solutions. \nPartner with data owners and platform teams to improve how sensitive data is stored, accessed, transformed, shared, and monitored. \nBasicQualifications\n\nBachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.\n8+ years of software engineering, systems engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering experience supporting large-scale production environments.\nStrong technical leadership experience driving complex, cross-functional infrastructure or platform initiatives.\nExperience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native platforms.\nStrong understanding of system architecture, networking, operating systems, observability, and performance engineering.\nExperience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS, including compute, storage, networking, containerization, and identity services.\nExperience developing automation for deployment, monitoring, incident response, and platform operations.\nSoftware engineering experience, especially in backend, platform, infrastructure, or distributed systems development. \nStrong programming and scripting skills, such as Python, Bash, Java,Go,C++, or similar languages. \nGood understanding of cloud infrastructure, especially AWS services, IAM concepts, permissions, logging, and access patterns. \n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience operating mission-critical services with demanding availability, latency, and scalability requirements.\nDeep expertise in Kubernetes, containers, infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and modern observability platforms.\nExperience defining and managing Service Level Objectives (SLOs), Service Level Indicators (SLIs), and reliability engineering practices.\nTrack record of improving system reliability, reducing operational burden, and increasing engineering velocity through automation.\nExperience driving technical strategy and influencing architecture decisions across multiple teams and organizations.\nType of work model\nHybrid - Our Hybrid work model: Coupang hybrid work model is designed to enable a culture of collaboration that acts a catalyst to enrich the experience of employees.
