This role focuses on the operational side of data engineering, including platform administration, infrastructure automation, data ingestion capabilities, governance implementation, and platform reliability.\nWorking independently with limited direction, this individual partners with data engineers, architects, analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure the enterprise data platform remains scalable, secure, and efficient. The ideal candidate combines hands-on experience with Databricks administration, cloud infrastructure, and data engineering best practices to enable high-quality data solutions.\nKey Responsibilities\nData Platform Operations\nAdminister and maintain Databricks environments supporting enterprise analytics and data engineering workloads.\nManage platform configurations, cluster performance, capacity planning, and operational stability.\nMonitor platform health and troubleshoot performance, reliability, and operational issues.\nSupport lifecycle management of platform resources across development, testing, and production environments.\nCloud Infrastructure & Automation\nDevelop and maintain Infrastructure as Code solutions using Terraform.\nSupport cloud-based data infrastructure within Azure environments.\nImplement automation to improve platform consistency, reliability, and operational efficiency.\nPartner with infrastructure and security teams to ensure adherence to enterprise standards.\nData Engineering Enablement\nBuild and support data ingestion frameworks and pipelines that enable reliable movement of data across platforms.\nCollaborate with Data Engineers to improve platform capabilities and optimize data processing workloads.\nSupport structured and unstructured data workloads within cloud data environments.\nAssist in identifying and resolving data performance bottlenecks.\nGovernance & Security\nSupport data governance initiatives using Databricks Unity Catalog.\nImplement and maintain data access controls, permissions, and governance standards.\nEnsure compliance with organizational security and data management requirements.\nContribute to metadata, lineage, and data quality practices.\nContinuous Improvement\nEvaluate new tools, technologies, and platform capabilities.\nRecommend improvements that enhance scalability, reliability, and developer productivity.\nDocument platform standards, operational procedures, and support processes.\nParticipate in incident response, root cause analysis, and operational reviews.\nPriority will be given to candidates who reside in the Columbus, OH metropolitan area.\nWe are unable to provide sponsorship for this role presently or in the future.\nRequired Qualifications\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.\n4+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or related disciplines.\nExperience administering Databricks environments.\nExperience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code practices.\nExperience supporting Azure cloud services and infrastructure.\nExperience developing and maintaining data ingestion solutions.\nStrong SQL and troubleshooting skills.\nExperience supporting production environments and operational workloads.\nUnderstanding of data modeling, data governance, and modern data architecture concepts.\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience with Unity Catalog and Databricks governance capabilities.\nExperience supporting Azure Data Lake, Snowflake, or related cloud data technologies.\nExperience with Python and data engineering automation.\nExperience working in large-scale cloud analytics environments.\nExperience supporting CI/CD and deployment automation practices.\nHealthcare or regulated industry experience.\nWe are proud to offer a competitive compensation package at McKesson as part of our Total Rewards.
