We bring together products, services, and technology into a single platform that connects our customers to the solutions and insights they need to work best. Our passion for the well-being of animals and those who care for them drives us to advance the world of veterinary medicine.\nThe Role\nWe are seeking interest for a Software Developer (internally referred to as ‘Analyst/Programmer’) to join the Development team, reporting to the Development Team Lead. You will work on the systems that support our business across Australia and New Zealand: our customer-facing platforms, core business systems, and the integrations that connect them with finance, warehousing, and partner platforms. We use AI-assisted development tools as a normal part of how we work and you will use them well to write and change code efficiently, so that more of your time goes into the parts that make a change succeed: clear requirements, sound design, thorough testing, and smooth delivery.\nYour responsibilities will include -\nOwn small to medium projects and change requests end to end, from requirements through to release and handover (larger initiatives are run with a designated Project Manager).\nWork with business stakeholders to understand processes and problems, clarify requirements, and agree on scope and acceptance criteria before build begins.\nDesign practical, maintainable solutions, and raise alternatives where there’s a simpler or better way to meet the need.\nBuild and modify features, integrations, and automations across our stack, using AI-assisted tools to work efficiently.\nDevelop and maintain integrations between internal systems and third-party platforms, choosing the most appropriate technology for each one.\nTest your own work properly, coordinate UAT with stakeholders, and manage issues through to sign-off.\nPlan and carry out releases and produce the documentation and handover the team needs to support what you’ve built.\nContribute to code reviews, team practices, and how we use AI tools as a team.\nAbout You\nIdeally you will display -\nCommercial software development experience at a mid to senior level combined with a solid understanding of application design, relational databases and SQL, and system integration (APIs, file-based and message-based interfaces).\nPractical, day-to-day experience with AI-assisted development tools, and the judgement to review, test, and own the code they help produce.\nConfidence working directly with business stakeholders to gather requirements and manage expectations and the ability to manage your own work.\nA disciplined approach to testing, UAT, and release, and an understanding that delivery isn’t done until it’s working in production and supported.\nWillingness to learn unfamiliar technologies and languages. Parts of our environment use less common platforms, and we don’t expect prior experience with them.\nDesirable:\nC# / .NET experience.\nExperience with both Windows and Linux server environments.\nExperience working with ERP, warehouse, finance, or e-commerce systems.\nWhy Join Us?\nAt Covetrus, we’re proud of our family friendly culture and respectful workplace. We embrace diversity in our workforce and encourage applications from like-minded persons from all walks of life. Covetrus team members are eligible to access a suite of fantastic benefits, to help them look after themselves, their family and their beloved pets. These include -\nGenerous discounts on our range of animal health food & enrichment products.\nAccess to Perkbox/Boost apps for discounts on everyday shopping & amazing health & wellbeing resources.\nAdditional leave benefits - annual birthday leave, paid parental leave, & the option to purchase additional leave.\nFlexible hybrid Work From Home options & dog-friendly offices (select roles and locations).\nFree 24/7 access to our Employee Assistance Program.\nReward & recognition through our quarterly Values Awards and our Service Anniversary Awards.\nProfessional development through our Leadership Development & Emerging Leadership courses.\nAccess to annual flu vaccinations.\nAnnual volunteer days.\nCovetrus is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
