Other duties may be assigned.\n\nUnder the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, learn and apply company SOPs to perform supporting compounding tasks, participate in dosage form training, and obtain in depth knowledge (validation) in the preparation and handling of at least 1 dosage compounding form following established protocols and compounding techniques. Adhere to all applicable regulations, including USP standards, state law, and federal law.\n\nLearn and apply USP standards to prepare, handle, and dispose of materials including hazardous waste.\n\nPerform aseptic technique during the compounding process to prevent contamination and ensure sterility. Clean and sanitize the compounding area, equipment, and tools in accordance with regulations and standard operating procedures.\n\nMaintain strict documentation and record-keeping of compounded medications, ingredients, lot numbers, and expiration dates.\n\nMonitor and maintain inventory levels of compounding supplies, including chemicals, solutions, and equipment, and place orders as needed.\n\nParticipate in training programs, continuing education, and professional development opportunities to stay updated on compounding techniques, regulations, and industry advancements.\n\nCollaborate with pharmacists and other team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of compounding orders.\n\nMaintain a strong track record of reliability and punctuality.\n\nCross train in multiple departments, as needed.\n\nSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES\nNone.\n\nQUALIFICATIONS: \nEDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE\nHigh school diploma or equivalent.\n\nEntry level compounding position. Experience as a compounding Pharmacy Technician, with a focus on non-sterile compounding, preferred but not required.\n\nCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS\nMust obtain and maintain Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) license or registration (if applicable) through the State Board of Pharmacy in the state where the compounding facility is located.\n\nCOMPETENCIES (SKILLS AND ABILITIES)\nAble to read and follow Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs) and complete basic mathematical calculations used in the role.\n\nAble to work on routine compounding task assignments and utilize basic compounding skills as required for the position.\n\nFamiliarity with veterinary medications, dosages, and compounding requirements is a plus.\n\nProficiency in using compounding equipment and software systems, including automated compounders and inventory management systems preferred.\n\nStrong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills to ensure accuracy and efficiency in compounding operations.\n\nAbility to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and potency in all compounding activities while meeting deadlines.\n\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team.\n\nCommitment to maintaining a safe working environment and following all relevant safety protocols.\n\nFlexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules as needed.\n\nPHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT\nThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. May be required to wear an N-95 mask, gloves, safety glasses, and other personal protective equipment.\n\nMust be able to stand for majority of scheduled workday and may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.\n\nA person may need to place, turn, pinch, push or pick up small objects as part of their job tasks. Also, finger dexterity is required for tasks such as turning pages, typing, writing, pushing buttons, or operating intricate machinery.\n\nMust comply with Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) standards, dress code, and hygiene requirements in accordance with Covetrus SOPs and USP standard guidelines set by USP 795, 797, and 800.
