Our passion for the well-being of animals and those who care for them drives us to advance the world of veterinary medicine.\nThe Business Unit Controller is responsible for the oversight of the accounting, financial reporting, and control environment of Covetrus North America’s largest business unit. The MWI Controller will leverage their accounting expertise in revenue recognition, inventory management and other complex areas such as software development, property accounting, internal controls, process implementation and operational oversight.\nThe Controller will have an in-depth knowledge of US GAAP and will have the ability to apply standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques as well as make complex decisions. As a core leader of the Controllership team, this role is responsible for inspiring the team, peers, and leadership, and building an effective and engaged team while supporting their development.\nThis position reports to the North America Controller and manages a team of accounting professionals.\nESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.\nDirect the functional areas within revenue recognition, inventory control, general accounting, and compliance through partnership with various areas of operations, FP&A and shared services.\nEnsure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory and/or internally developed accounting policies and procedures. \nOversee monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.\nServe as the point of contact and owner of key controls that include, but not limited to: record to report, procure to pay, order to cash, leasing, inventory, and fixed assets.\nBe attuned to early warnings of financial control gaps and be able to proactively implement action plans to swiftly remedy.\nUnderstand and manage multiple different income streams including product, manufacturing, fees, subscription, software, royalty, consulting, bundling, rebates and margin reimbursements.\nProvide thought leadership to the business on revenue building initiatives while ensuring compliance with revenue recognition (ASC 606)\nComfortable creating or re-evaluating current policies and memos around reserves and impairment analyses that can vary across subsidiaries.\nOversight of all intercompany transactions and allocation methodologies.\nOversight of all physical inventories and material cycle count adjustments and ensure compliance based on established controls.\nImplement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve and shorten the monthly accounting close.\nIssue timely and complete month-end reports and analytics to the consolidation team.\nServe as the point of contact for all internal and external audits.\nProvide counsel and advice to management in developing objectives, strategies and tactics from a financial and accounting perspective.\nEncourage ideas and creative approaches for continuous improvement.\nEstablish a clear understanding of other functional areas of company and provide guidance to executives of Business Development, Operations, Quality, HR, Program Management, Product, and Development in relation to financial goals and strategies.\nKeep up to date on the animal health market and applicable accounting rules and regulations.\nProvide training and guidance to finance staff and non-financial colleagues across the business.\nMentor/develop direct reports and retain/promote top performers.\nQUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLSETS\nBachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance\nCPA Required, MBA a plus\n8+ years of diverse financial experience in various finance / accounting roles\n3+ years in a hands-on management position\nStrength of character, with the ability to take clear, decisive action in steering the company's worth and safeguard values\nA history of active involvement and success beyond the traditional responsibilities of financial reporting\nExperience integrating an accounting function as part of a business combination\nWorks effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple competing deadlines\nPossess agility and can adapt quickly to changing priorities\nStrong organizational skills and attention to detail\nStrong work ethic with willingness and ability to dig into details to accomplish tasks and complete projects\nWe offer the following benefits for you to take advantage of while you are here provided you meet the eligibility requirements under each governing program:\n401k savings & company match\n\nPaid time off\n\nPaid holidays\n\nMaternity leave\n\nParental leave\n\nMilitary leave\n\nOther leaves of absence\n\nHealth, dental, and vision benefits\n\nHealth savings accounts\n\nFlexible spending accounts\n\nLife & disability benefits\n\nIdentity theft protection\n\nPet insurance\n\nCertain positions may include eligibility for a short-term incentive plan\n\nSalary may vary depending on factors such as confirmed job-related skills, experience, and location.
