Then this is the place to apply your knowledge and curiosity to enable a better tomorrow.\nIf you enjoy solving technical challenges, working within multidisciplinary teams and developing your skills across a range of infrastructure projects, we'd love to hear from you.\nCreate Solutions that will enable a better tomorrow\nWe are growing our Infrastructure Design team and are seeking a Engineer (Highways and Drainage) to support the delivery of multidisciplinary infrastructure projects across the UK.\nOur work spans highways, rail, water, energy and development infrastructure, and you’ll contribute to the design and coordination of integrated, sustainable and buildable solutions while developing your technical skills under the guidance of experienced engineers and project leaders.\nYou’ll work on projects from concept through to construction, designing and coordinating highways and drainage elements and collaborating with specialists from other disciplines to deliver practical, well-integrated outcomes.\nIn addition, as part of this role, you will initially be seconded to a major national infrastructure programme, providing you with valuable on-site experience within a dynamic and fast-paced project environment (HS2). This will form a key part of your role for at least the first 12 months, offering exposure to complex engineering challenges and collaborative, multidisciplinary working.\nYour key responsibilities:\nDevelop infrastructure designs across highways, rail, drainage, utilities, power distribution and related civil infrastructure disciplines from concept through to detailed design\nPrepare and review calculations, technical drawings, specifications, and design reports, ensuring high standards of quality and accuracy.\nCoordinate with engineers, technicians and other disciplines to develop integrated and buildable engineering solutions\nSupport engagement with clients, local authorities, contractors and statutory undertakers.\nSupport project managers in managing programme, resource and commercial objectives.\nUndertake site visits and provide construction-phase support where required.\nApply relevant standards, regulations and CDM requirements, including undertaking and reviewing design risk assessments.\nMentor, support and develop junior engineers and technicians through technical guidance, coaching and review of their work.\nContribute to the continuous improvement of technical standards, digital delivery and engineering best practice across the team.\n Your skills. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.\nOn top of that, you’ll:\nHave a degree in civil engineering(or equivalent)\nBe working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng), Incorporated Engineer (IEng), or equivalent.\nHave experience in at least one infrastructure discipline, such as highways, drainage, utilities, development infrastructure or power distribution, together with an understanding of how these disciplines interact within multidisciplinary projects.\nHave experience using industry-standard infrastructure design and modelling software such as Civil 3D, InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage or equivalent tools.\nBe familiar with relevant industry standards, and have a sound understanding of CDM Regulations, specifically the designer’s requirements and requirements regarding the design risk assessment process\nHave experience working collaboratively with technicians and other specialists to produce coordinated design solutions.\nUnderstand the importance of programme, budget and commercial objectives and contribute to achieving successful project outcomes.\nDemonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills in English\nHold a full UK driving licence\nA place to work and so much more\nAt COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world.
