Working on tunnels and underground structure design, you’llhave the opportunity to work on some of the most prestigious infrastructure projects in the UK.\nYour key responsibilities will be:\nConducting feasibility and options reports\nCompleting designs for a range of civil engineering structures, including below ground structures and foundations \nPreparation of work for CAD Technicians\nSite surveys and appraisals of various rail, water and/or utilities infrastructure schemes as appropriate\nChecking of drawings and supervision of Graduate Engineers \nLiaising with clients, attending meetings on-site, progress meetings and design review meetings\nProject management, including cost/commercial aspects of project\nAssisting in the production of pre-qualification documents, tenders and fee proposals as required\nYour skills. And you never get set in your ways but keep exploring new insights and ways to improve.\nOn top of that, you’ll:\nBe Chartered in either the ICE or IStructE or an equivalent institution\nHave significant experience working on the design of tunnels, heavy civil and other complex underground structures\nDemonstrate a proven record in the design of bored tunnels, mined excavations, stations, basements, and temporary works\nHave knowledge of soil structure interaction principles and their application both in structural analysis (Lusas, Strand7, SAP 2000) and geotechnical analysis (Plaxis)\nHave some experience of motivating, supervising, and coordinating project teams\nBe familiar with UK design standards, Eurocodes and CDM regulations\nSound understanding of the CDM Regulations and be fully conversant with UK standards \nA place to work and so much more\nAt COWI, we work together with our customers to shape a sustainable and liveable world.
