The Sr Shop Paint Technician can perform more advanced refinishing procedures such as multi-stage systems, two tone, and stripes. The Sr Shop Paint TechnicianassistsShop Paint Technician I and II with refinishing and continues to learnadditionaladvanced refinishing skills. Heavily reliedupon fortroubleshooting including color match and paint imperfections. A successful Sr Shop Paint Techniciancomplies withall company policies and achieveshigh levelperformance metrics.\nPrimary Duties/Key Responsibilities\nPerform adjustments and intermediaterepairvarious typesof truck and trailer equipment.\n\nInspection for damage and blemishes pre and post work.\n\nPrep for paining.\n\nWelding & fabrication.\n\nGlass care.\n\nSeal work.\n\nDoor repair.\n\nIdentifyproblems,determineaccuracy and relevance of information,usingsound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations.\n\nInspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as computers and pressure gauges.\n\nAssist Shop Paint Technician I & II with refinish troubleshooting.\n\nPerform advanced refinish troubleshooting and triage of complicated refinishing by Shop Paint Technicians I & II.\n\nFormulate and apply mixed and dispensed automotive refinish materials to vehicle surfaces and sub-assembliesin accordance withapplicable standards and procedures.\n\nMix only the amount of refinish products (primer, base and clear)requiredto cover repair/refinish area and limit waste, using paint suppliers “mix-management system”.\n\nUpdate all paint supplier color, technical data and MSDS material as received.\n\nPainting (color matching, mixing, clear coats)\n\nAssure all refinish products are properly formulated to meet color match and finish texture expectations,utilizingall tools and techniques provided by paintsupplierstechnical support system (i.e., TDS, color match system, etc.).\n\nInspect refinish products to be used for proper formulation to meet color match and finish texture standards\n\nMaintaina high levelof productivity and be able to work within or close to most Standard Repair Times.\n\nCommunicate with Shop Manager and support team to discuss RO findings notes.\n\nPerform minor adjustments and body repairs onvarious typesof truck and trailer equipment.\n\nApply, mix, and dispense automotive refinish materials to vehicle surfaces and sub-assembliesin accordance withapplicable standards and procedures.\n\nInspectthe conditionof panels to be painted for any subtle defects in repair, prepping or masking;referany issues discovered to supervisor.\n\nWorkwith a high degree of independence.\n\nClean andmaintainall paint formulation and spray application equipment andmaintainpaint and storage areas\n\nIdentifyproblems,determineaccuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.\n\nWork withShopManager to assess customer needs,provideinformation orassistance,resolvingtheir problems, orsatisfyingtheir expectations.\n\nManage concurrent assigned tasks, making effective judgments as to prioritizing work related activities and time allocations.\n\nSupport Shop PaintTechnician Iin obtaining correct materials for each job.\n\nEnsure adequate supply ofrefinishedproducts to meet production requirements\n\nEducation/Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma/GED and 5 years’ experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as anyleveldegree/certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 3 years’ experience; or 7 years’ experience in a related field.\n\nPossess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.\n\nObtain Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certification T8 (PMI) within eighteen (18) months.\n\nASE B2 (Painting and Refinishing) certification\n\nASE B3 (Non-Structural Analysis and Damage Repair) certification\n\nASE B5 (Mechanical and Electrical) certification\n\nExperience\nMinimum of 4 years of experience asPaintTechnician on medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair or equivalent combination of technical education/certifications/skill/experiences.\n\nAssociate's Degree, BA/BS or Technical certification + up to2 yearexperience\n\n5 years of equivalent experience in a similar capacity Technician role.\n\nSkills/Abilities\nKnowledge of various paint equipment and paint systems, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.\n\nAbility to communicate information (for example, facts, ideas, or messages) in a succinct and organized manner.
