Supervisors are scheduled to work four (4) ten-hour shifts per week, with standard hours of 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM Sunday through Tuesday and 6:00 AM - 5:00 PM on Wednesday.\nPosition Summary\nThe Supervisor, Lot Operations is a hands-on leader responsible for overseeing all vehicle check-in, inspection, and lot operations activities for the auction. This role ensures vehicles are accurately checked in, inspected, imaged, staged, and moved efficiently through the lot and into sale lanes.\nIn a smaller auction environment, this position combines responsibilities from both VE/Inspection and Lot Ops, requiring a leader who actively works alongside the team, models expected behaviors, and drives high-quality customer service, accuracy, operational flow, and safety.\nKey Responsibilities\nVehicle Entry, Inspection & Imaging\nOversee all vehicle check-in and inspection functions (Dealer, Commercial & Specialty).\n\nEnsure accurate and timely data entry into AS400, including vehicle condition, features, announcements, and digital imaging.\n\nDirect the team in writing condition reports, conducting inspections, and performing data entry.\n\nPerform quality audits in alignment with Manheim QA and NAAA standards; review arbitration trends to identify training opportunities.\n\nReview condition reports and vehicles with customers as needed; escalate client-specific variations from Insight ECR standards to Operational Excellence.\n\nMaintain inspection equipment and ensure proper functionality and care.\n\nLot Operations & Vehicle Movement\nSupervise lot operations including staging, vehicle flow, numbering, and lot organization.\n\nWork hands-on with the lot team to keep vehicle movement efficient and sale-ready.\n\nCoordinate movement of vehicles from check-in to the correct lot locations and sale lanes.\n\nMaintain and inspect lot equipment to ensure safe and functional operation.\n\nMonitor and report lot damage; collaborate with Operations Manager on corrective actions.\n\nPartner with Recon, Factory, Fleet/Lease, and other departments to ensure vehicles are accurately processed and ready for sale.\n\nTeam Leadership & Staff Development\nLead by example-actively working alongside the team and setting a high standard for professionalism, quality, and service.\n\nPlan for and respond to staffing fluctuations-including call-offs, PTO, and unexpected volume changes-by reallocating resources, adjusting schedules, and personally stepping in when necessary to maintain operational continuity and service levels\n\nRecruit, select, train, and develop check-in, inspection, sale lot drivers, lane captains, and other staff.\n\nCoordinate and deliver skill-based training including the Inspector Certification Program (ICP) and support employee progression through ICP levels.\n\nObtain and maintain Inspector Manager Certification Program (MCP) certification.\n\nProvide coaching, motivation, counseling, and discipline when needed.\n\nConduct or support performance evaluations with input from Operational Excellence managers.\n\nOperational Planning & Performance\nPlan and adjust staffing levels based on auction volume, sale schedules, and operational needs.\n\nContinuously monitor performance against KPIs; develop and execute action plans for improvement.\n\nManage requisitioning of supplies, materials, and equipment for both VE and lot operations.\n\nEnsure compliance with auction policies, government regulations, and safety standards.\n\nCollaborate with local and field teams (Finance, HR, Safety, MFS, Security, Sales, Recon, etc.) to ensure strong operational processes and customer service.\n\nCustomer Service & Relationship Management\nInteract directly with customers to resolve concerns related to check-in, inspections, and vehicle movement.\n\nProvide high-quality service and maintain professionalism with internal and external clients.\n\nMaintain a customer-focused mindset across all team interactions.\n\nMinimum Qualifications:\nHigh School Diploma/GED and 5 years of related experience, OR an equivalent combination including:\nBachelor’s degree + 3 years’ experience\n\nMaster’s degree + 1 year\n\nPh.D. + up to 1 year\n\nStrong communication skills with ability to work effectively across teams and departments.\n\nStrong Excel skills and ability to analyze data and metrics.\n\nPreferred\nExperience in arbitration, inspections, or NAAA standards.\n\nExperience in the automotive or auction industry.\n\nDegree in a related discipline (Information Systems, Business, Automotive Technology, etc.).\n\nLeadership Expectations\nLead by example-professionalism, initiative, teamwork, and integrity.\n\nChampion Cox/Manheim values and promote a respectful, inclusive environment.\n\nModel exceptional safety practices and support all Safety Excellence initiatives.\n\nMaintain a strong presence across the lot-visible, engaged, and hands-on.\n\nDrug Testing\nTo be employed in this role, you’ll need to clear a pre-employment drug test.
