You'll play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining the server-side architecture that powers a large-scale digital ecosystem used by thousands of customers daily.\nThe Opportunity\nAs a Senior Back-End Developer, you will be responsible for building scalable, secure, and high-performing back-end services, APIs, and integrations. Working closely with architects, developers, and programme stakeholders, you'll help deliver robust solutions that support a modern digital platform.\nThis role would suit someone who thrives in complex technical environments and enjoys taking ownership of backend architecture, performance, and security.\nKey Responsibilities\nDesign, develop, and maintain server-side applications and microservices using Node.js.\nBuild and manage secure, scalable APIs (REST and/or GraphQL) for web and mobile applications.\nIntegrate solutions with third-party platforms, legacy systems, and internal services.\nDesign and optimise database structures across SQL and NoSQL technologies.\nTroubleshoot production issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement long-term solutions.\nEnsure backend services meet security, performance, and reliability standards.\nCollaborate with Enterprise Architects to align solutions with cloud, security, and governance frameworks.\nProvide technical input during sprint planning, backlog refinement, and estimation sessions.\nSupport programme delivery by managing technical dependencies and providing visibility on development progress.\nRequired Experience\n5+ years' experience in Back-End Development within enterprise or complex technology environments.\nStrong hands-on expertise with Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript.\nExperience developing and maintaining RESTful APIs and microservices architectures.\nStrong database experience including technologies such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and MongoDB.\nKnowledge of caching solutions such as Redis.\nExperience working with cloud technologies, ideally Microsoft Azure.\nFamiliarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment practices.\nStrong understanding of software engineering best practices, testing, and code quality standards.\nExperience working within Agile delivery environments using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps.\nDesirable Skills\nExperience with additional programming languages such as Python or Go.\nPrevious experience working on large-scale digital transformation programmes.\nExposure to high-availability, customer-facing digital platforms.\nPersonal Attributes\nStrong problem-solving and analytical skills.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.\nHighly organised with strong attention to detail.\nSelf-motivated with a
