Working closely with the Head of Communications, the Communications Manager will play a vital role in developing and delivering our communications and stakeholder engagement strategies with the public and Ireland’s almost 11,500 charities. They will work alongside our Digital Communications Manager who manages our digital communications (such as our website and social channels).\nThe duties and responsibilities of the successful candidate will include the following:\nSupport the Head of Communications in devising and delivering strategic communications and stakeholder engagement strategies and initiatives that are aligned with the Charities Regulator’s strategic objectives \nAssist in the management of our press office and public affairs function including media queries and parliamentary questions (PQs)\nManage the development and delivery of resources for charities and charity trustees and those interested in information on the charity sector, including guidance, webinars and stakeholder events, newsletter, reports\nDevelop and produce corporate materials and publications including copywriting\nFoster effective relationships with key stakeholders both within the Charities Regulator and externally, including media, representative bodies within the charity sector, other relevant organisations and public bodies \nWork collaboratively with the Digital Communications Manager and across the organisation to deliver on communications and key stakeholder engagement initiatives\nDay-to-day management of external agencies (for example PR, design) \nManage internal communications \nBudget management \nProviding support to and managing assigned staff \nMeasure effectiveness of communications activities \nCarry out any other duties that may be required from time to time \nThe above is intended as a guide to the general range of duties and responsibilities associated with the post and is intended to be neither definitive nor restrictive. The Charities Regulator retains the right to amend role profile and allocate resources within the Charities Regulator in the most appropriate manner and in accordance with business needs.\nEssential experience, skills, knowledge and qualifications\nThe Charities Regulator is seeking to appoint an individual who possesses the following, to a level appropriate to the role of Higher Executive Officer.\nHave a qualification of at least level 8 of the National Framework of Qualifications from a recognised university or other third-level institution in a relevant discipline. \nAt least four years’ experience in a relevant role \nDemonstrable experience in delivering on communications strategies that build engagement and reputation amongst diverse stakeholders \nExcellent interpersonal and written communication skills as evidenced in your application, in comparison to other applicants \nGood knowledge of the Irish media landscape with success in achieving media coverage \nExperienced writer \nExperience of working successfully in a team environment\nCandidates must have the above experience, qualifications on or before 29 October 2026.\nDesirable experience, knowledge and skills:\nAn understanding of and interest in Ireland’s charity sector \nEvidence of ongoing professional and personal development \nWhile not required specifically for the role, fluency in or a working knowledge of the Irish language.\nRequired competencies\nCandidates should have all the abilities required of a Communications Manager with the Charities Regulator.
