You will work hands-on across the robot's electrical system-from building cable harnesses and reworking PCBs to validating sensors, assembling waterproof electronics, troubleshooting complete robots, and supporting repairs in the field.\nCRABI is building autonomous robots that live aboard commercial ships and clean their hulls while they are underway. Marine biofouling creates enormous hydrodynamic drag, forcing ships to burn more fuel to maintain speed. By keeping hulls continuously clean, our robots can eliminate a major source of wasted energy across the global fleet-reducing fuel consumption, operating costs, and ultimately maritime CO2 emissions by more than 100 million tons per year.\nBuilding a robot that operates underwater on the hull of a moving ship creates electrical challenges very different from those of a typical indoor robot. Electronics need to survive water, vibration, corrosion, high currents, powerful magnetic fields, and repeated deployment in a harsh marine environment.\nYou will work directly with our electrical, mechanical, firmware, GNC, and test engineers to turn engineering designs into reliable hardware. This is a hands-on role with significant ownership over the quality of the systems you build. You will help identify problems, determine their root causes, implement repairs and improvements, and feed what we learn during assembly and field testing back into the next generation of the robot.\nUS work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa, now or in the future.\nJob Responsibilities:\nBuild, modify, inspect, and repair electrical cable harnesses and robot wiring assemblies.\nAssemble, solder, rework, and repair PCBAs, including fine-pitch components, jumper wires, and board-level modifications.\nPerform functional testing and validation of PCBAs, sensors, actuators, power electronics, and other electrical hardware.\nTroubleshoot electrical problems from the component and board level through complete integrated robotic systems.\nAssemble, inspect, and validate waterproof electrical systems, including O-rings, gaskets, cable glands, penetrators, connectors, and sealed electronics enclosures.\nPerform mechanical and electromechanical assembly in support of complete robot builds.\nUse oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, electronic loads, and other test equipment to diagnose and validate electrical systems.\nDevelop and maintain test procedures, assembly procedures, inspection criteria, and build records.\nWork with engineers to identify recurring build and reliability issues and improve designs, tooling, assembly processes, and test methods.\nSupport complete robot assembly, lab testing, field testing, and electrical repairs, including occasional work aboard or around marine vessels.\nRequired Qualifications:\nStrong hands-on electronics assembly, rework, and troubleshooting skills.\nProficiency with surface-mount soldering, including 0402 passives and small QFN components.\nProficiency with fine-pitch PCB rework, including installation of small jumper wires, component replacement, and trace repair.\nExperience building, inspecting, modifying, and troubleshooting cable harnesses.\nProficiency with multimeters, oscilloscopes, bench power supplies, and other common electrical test equipment.\nAbility to read and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, PCB documentation, and mechanical assembly drawings.\nAbility to systematically troubleshoot electrical and electromechanical systems and identify root causes rather than simply replace failed components.\nComfortable performing hands-on mechanical assembly and using common hand, power, and digital fabrication tools.\nStrong attention to detail and commitment to consistent workmanship and documentation.\nAbility to work safely around high magnetic fields and other hazards associated with prototype robotic systems.\nPreferred Qualifications:\nExperience selecting and assembling crimp contacts, terminals, and connectors from JST, Molex, TE Connectivity, Amphenol, or similar connector families.\nExperience with waterproof, marine, subsea, or environmentally sealed electrical connectors and assemblies.\nExperience assembling and inspecting O-ring seals, cable glands, penetrators, or sealed electrical enclosures.\nExperience with epoxies, conformal coatings, potting compounds, adhesives, and other electronics protection methods.\nExperience building and troubleshooting electrical systems containing motors, encoders, sensors, batteries, power electronics, and embedded controllers.\nPrevious hands-on build experience with robotic, automotive, aerospace, marine, industrial, or other complex electromechanical systems.\nExperience developing or executing production, acceptance, or validation test procedures.\nBasic CAD experience (Siemens NX preferred).\nBasic Linux or command-line experience.\nBonus Qualifications:\nExperience with high-power PCB assembly and rework.\nExperience with batteries, motor controllers, or other high-current DC electrical systems.\nFamiliarity with CAN bus, Ethernet, RS-485, USB, or similar communication interfaces and experience troubleshooting them on physical hardware.\nExperience with environmental, pressure, leak, vibration, or other reliability testing.\nExperience diagnosing intermittent electrical faults, grounding problems, EMI/EMC issues, or communication failures.\nExperience building, maintaining, or repairing robots or other complex vehicles in a field environment.\nCompensation\nThe base pay range for this role is $27 - $35 per hour.","description_format":"text","description_chars":5780,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Underwater & Marine Robotics"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-10-03T23:30:07Z"}],"visa":[],"liveness":{"score":68,"band":"ok","label":"Likely open","p_open":1,"p_active":0.683,"p_room":1,"age_days":15,"expected_fill_days":67,"reasons":["conf:0","velocity","win:early"],"computed_at":"2026-10-14T06:34:16Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/crabi-robotics-electrical-technician","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/crabi-robotics-electrical-technician.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-14T09:12:34Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":10171,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-15T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":2256681},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=2256681"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fcrabi-robotics-electrical-technician"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fcrabi-robotics-electrical-technician"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fcrabi-robotics-electrical-technician"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/crabi-robotics-electrical-technician\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fcrabi-robotics-electrical-technician"}]}
