From the day we opened our first store in Chicago in 1962 to the digital innovations that engage millions of customers today, our iconic brand is nearly 60 years in the making-and our story is still unfolding.\nThe Local Route Driver is responsible for over the road transportation of goods as assigned in accordance with business needs to support Distribution Center goals.Primary Responsibilities:\nCandidates must hold a valid state-appropriate driver's license, be able to obtain their Commercial Driver's License (CDL), and be eligible to drive in accordance with DOT requirements\nPerforms various functions within the yard, supports site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers as needed, to ensure all trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and to maintain a fluid trailer pool\nOperate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) over the road as required while staying on predetermined routes and using approved equipment\nOperates CMVs on non-public roads or in yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations\nComplies with company policies, procedures, and DOT regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting requirements, break periods, etc.)\nCompletes driver vehicle inspection reports on equipment and notify managers of any maintenance or delivery issues encountered\nFollows hostler and delivery schedules, tracks and reports working hours and breaks at appropriate times, adheres to yard safety policies, obeys all applicable traffic laws, and drives in accordance with weather/road conditions \nMoves pallets, wraps skids and unloads and loads trailers as needed\nDrives, maneuvers, and loads/unloads a truck using approved equipment\nCleans up and disposes boxes, packing material, and pallets, as well as general housekeeping of facility and specific product line areas\nRotates through different departments, as necessary, to meet the demands of the business\nParticipates in ongoing training regarding technology upgrades and new systems applicable to the position\nPerforms all job tasks assigned by the leadership staff to achieve and maintain daily productivity and quality goals\nKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\nPossess a complete understanding of training and communication resources relevant to the position\nMaintains an awareness of loss prevention, security and safety following the guidelines as outlined in the Company Code of Conduct and Associate Policy manuals\nGood communication skills\nAbility to work in a team environment \nAttention to detail\nBasic English Language proficiency \nExperience Required:\nAt least 2 years experience driving tractor trailers\nCDL License (Class A)\nMust pass the DOT physical\nForklift experience a plus\nHigh School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred\nPhysical and Visual Activities**\nOn a daily basis, must be able to constantly have visual acuity near and far, stand, operate computers/POS/office equipment, move around the facility and communicate. Ability to frequently handle paperwork and/or remain stationary. May occasionally lift, carry, reach, kneel, crawl, push/pull, climb, balance, bend, crouch, twist or have foot controls for operating equipment.\nPhysical Demands**\nMovement of product, supplies and/or boxes to and from all levels of the store and stockroom. Ability to move and/or lift up to 65 lbs to a height of 3-4 feet; heavier product with team assist.
