QA Automation Engineer - Playwright / Cypress / Python

About the Role:

We are looking for a skilled and passionate QA Automation Engineer to join our Product Engineering team and help us build high-quality, reliable, and scalable products.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Playwright and/or Cypress, Python, automated testing, API testing, and end-to-end test automation.

You will work closely with Engineering, Product, and other stakeholders to build robust automation solutions, improve product quality, identify potential risks early, and ensure reliable customer experiences across complex and distributed applications.

What You'll Do:

- Design, develop, maintain, and optimize scalable automated testing frameworks.

- Develop end-to-end UI and API automation using Playwright and/or Cypress.

- Build automation utilities and frameworks using Python.

- Develop comprehensive functional, regression, integration, API, and end-to-end test suites.

- Automate critical business workflows and high-value product scenarios.

- Perform manual testing of modern web applications, APIs, backend services, and distributed system workflows.

- Design effective test strategies for complex and scalable applications.

- Identify, troubleshoot, and eliminate flaky tests.

- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.

- Collaborate closely with Software Engineers to identify defects early and improve product quality.

- Participate in product and technical discussions and proactively identify quality risks.

- Work with Product Managers and stakeholders to understand requirements and communicate product quality and improvement opportunities.

- Perform root-cause analysis for defects and production issues.

- Maintain clean, reusable, scalable, and maintainable automation code.

- Contribute to automation standards, testing practices, and Quality Engineering processes.

- Continuously improve test coverage, automation reliability, and execution efficiency.

- Explore and adopt modern testing tools and methodologies.

- Utilize Generative AI and AI-assisted development tools to improve test creation, automation development, debugging, test-data generation, test coverage, and productivity.

What We're Looking For:

- 3 - 8 years of experience in QA Automation / Software Quality Engineering.

- Strong hands-on experience with Playwright and/or Cypress.

- Good programming experience with Python.

- Experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks.

- Strong understanding of UI, API, integration, regression, and end-to-end testing.

- Experience automating complex business workflows.

- Experience with REST API testing.

- Understanding of modern web applications and distributed systems.

- Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines.

- Strong understanding of test strategy, test design, coverage, and defect management.

- Familiarity with Git and modern software development practices.

- Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Good to Have:

- Experience testing AWS-based cloud-native applications.

- Experience testing distributed architectures involving APIs, queues, asynchronous processing, databases, and backend services.

- Experience with performance or load testing.

- Experience with test reporting, observability, and test analytics.

- Experience with Docker and cloud-based test environments.

- Exposure to Generative AI, LLMs, AI Agents, or AI/ML technologies.

- Experience using Cursor, GitHub Copilot, or similar AI-assisted development tools.

- Experience applying AI to test generation, automation optimization, test analysis, or quality engineering.
