Time\nLevel: Mid Level\nPurpose Statement\nWe are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Operations Officerwith strong risk awareness and control experienceto support the efficient day-to-day operations of our microfinance bank in Dawakin Kudu.\nThe ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring smooth transaction processing, maintaining strong operational controls, supporting compliance requirements, and proactively identifying and mitigating risks across operations.\nThis role will work closely with and provide direct support to the Head of Finance & Operations, ensuring seamless execution of financial and operational activities across the branch.\nResponsibilities\nDaily Operations Management\nProcess and monitor daily transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, and loan disbursements.\n\nEnsure accuracy and completeness of all operational activities.\n\nMaintain proper documentation and record-keeping for all transactions.\n\nReconciliation & Reporting\nPerform daily, weekly, and monthly reconciliationsof accounts, cash, and transactions.\n\nInvestigate, resolve, and escalate discrepancies promptly.\n\nPrepare and submit operational reports to the Head of Finance & Operations.\n\nRisk Management & Internal Controls\nIdentify, assess, and mitigate operational and transaction risksacross all activities.\n\nEnsure strict adherence to internal controls, policies, and procedures.\n\nMonitor and prevent fraud, errors, and irregular transactions.\n\nEscalate control breaches and recommend corrective actions.\n\nCompliance & Regulatory Support\nEnsure adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.\n\nSupport regulatory reporting and returns preparationas required.\n\nMaintain proper audit trails and documentation for all transactions.\n\nCash & Vault Management\nManage cash handling processes including cash counts, balancing, and vault operations.\n\nEnsure proper cash control procedures are followed always.\n\nMonitor cash levels and escalate funding requirements where necessary.\n\nCustomer Service Support\nProvide prompt and professional support to customers on transactions and inquiries.\n\nResolve customer issues efficiently and escalate where necessary.\n\nEnsure a seamless and positive customer experience.\n\nCredit & Loan Operations Support\nSupport loan processing, documentation, and disbursement activities.\n\nEnsure all credit files are complete and compliant with policy.\n\nMonitor loan repayments and flag overdue or high-risk accounts.\n\nSupport to Head of Finance & Operations\nProvide day-to-day operational and financial support to the Head of Finance & Operations.\n\nAssist with financial reporting, reconciliations, returns filing, and compliance activities.\n\nSupport implementation of internal controls, SOPs, and process improvements.\n\nEnsure timely execution of directives and reporting requirements from management.\n\nProcess Improvement & Efficiency\nIdentify gaps in operational processes and recommend improvements.\n\nSupport implementation of SOPs and operational best practices.\n\nEnsure efficient use of banking systems and tools.\n\nKey Performance Indicators (KPIs)\nTransaction Accuracy Rate\n\nReconciliation Timeliness & Accuracy\n\nNumber of Risk Incidents / Control Breaches\n\nCompliance with Internal Controls\n\nCash Management Accuracy\n\nCustomer Service Turnaround Time\n\nError & Exception Rates\n\nRequirements\nBachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.\n\nMinimum of 3years experience strictly within a Microfinance Bank (MFB).\n\nDemonstrated experience in risk management, internal controls, or operations risk within a microfinance environment.\n\nStrong understanding of microfinance banking operations, reconciliation, and transaction processes.\n\nExperience with fraud prevention, risk monitoring, and compliance controls in an MFB.\n\nHands-on experience supporting regulatory reporting and returns filing specific to microfinance institutions (CBN, NDIC, etc.).\n\nProficiency in Microsoft Excel and core banking systems used in microfinance operations.\n\nStrong attention to detail and analytical skills.\n\nGood communication and interpersonal skills.\n\nMust reside in Kano State, preferably within or around Dawakin Kudu
