If you enjoy solving complex structural problems and want your work to have a visible, lasting impact, this may be the right opportunity for you.\nCOMPETENCIES:\nCustomer Focus\nDecision Quality\nBusiness Insight\nDrives Results\nCollaborates\nCommunicates Effectively\nCourage\nInstills Trust\nManages Ambiguity\nUnderstanding the value of the customer\nContributes to overall team success\nContinuous and applied learning\nStrategic Development\nPride\nWhat You’ll Do:\nAs a Design Engineer, you’ll perform and coordinate the structural design of steel utility structures while ensuring each solution meets customer specifications, applicable codes, project schedules, and manufacturing requirements.\nResponsibilities include:\nPerform conceptual, preliminary, and final design calculations for high-voltage transmission, distribution, and substation steel structures.\n\nDesign and interpret drawings for transmission and substation structures.\n\nDevelop preliminary designs and weight takeoffs to support estimating and proposal activities.\n\nUse PLS-POLE, STAAD.Pro, and other engineering tools to analyze and design steel structures.\n\nEnsure designs comply with customer specifications, applicable design codes, industry standards, and internal quality requirements.\n\nReview project requirements and identify technical risks, missing information, or potential design concerns.\n\nSolve complex structural, fabrication, construction, and compliance-related challenges.\n\nCoordinate schedules, calculations, drawings, revisions, and technical documentation throughout the project lifecycle.\n\nPartner with Project Management, Detailing, Estimating, Sales, Production, Quality, and other teams to move projects successfully from design through fabrication.\n\nAnswer technical questions from shop, field, and project personnel.\n\nCommunicate directly with customers regarding design requirements, clarifications, concerns, and project updates.\n\nReview designs for accuracy, constructability, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness.\n\nRecommend design or process improvements that strengthen quality, efficiency, and the overall customer experience.\n\nParticipate in continuing education, technical training, and professional development.\n\nWhat We’re Looking For:\nBachelor’s degree or higher in Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.\n\nCurrent Professional Engineer (PE) license required.\n\nMinimum of four years of experience designing transmission and/or substation structures for the high-voltage utility industry.\n\nStrong experience with PLS-POLE and STAAD.Pro.\n\nStrong knowledge of structural engineering principles, steel design, design codes, and utility structure requirements.\n\nProficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe.\n\nFamiliarity with AutoCAD is preferred.\n\nAbility to interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, design criteria, and customer requirements.\n\nStrong analytical, organizational, technical writing, and problem-solving skills.\n\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\n\nAbility to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines with limited supervision.\n\nRegular and reliable attendance.\n\nThe Ideal Candidate:\nYou may be a great fit if you:\nWant to design structures that support critical power infrastructure across the country.\n\nEnjoy solving complex structural engineering problems.\n\nTake pride in producing accurate, practical, and fabrication-ready designs.\n\nCan balance technical requirements with schedule, cost, manufacturability, and customer needs.\n\nCommunicate confidently with customers, engineers, project managers, shop employees, and field personnel.\n\nAre comfortable taking ownership of projects and making sound engineering decisions.\n\nValue collaboration and enjoy seeing your designs become real, finished structures.\n\nLook for ways to continuously improve designs, processes, and the customer experience.\n\nWork Arrangement:\nThis position is based in Pineville, Louisiana or Lafayette, Louisiana.
