This role requires a deeply experienced, hands-on engineer who takes full ownership of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)—from architecture and implementation through validation, deployment, and long-term product support.\n\nThe Senior Firmware Engineer will drive high-quality technical execution, proactively identify and resolve complex software and system-level issues and serve as a technical authority for streaming audio applications. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration across hardware, platform services, and customer-facing features, while also playing a key role in diagnosing and resolving escalated customer, field, and manufacturing issues.\n\nResponsibilities\nDesign, develop, and sustain high performance firmware and embedded software solutions for streaming audio products across both next generation and legacy platforms using C, C++, Node.js, and Python.\nOwn the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including system architecture, detailed design, implementation, integration, validation, deployment, and long-term maintenance.\nCollaborate closely with cross-functional teams including hardware, platform software, QA, manufacturing, product management, and customer support to ensure seamless system integration and feature delivery.\nServe as a technical authority for streaming audio firmware, providing expertise in real time systems, audio pipelines, networking, and platform integrations.\nLead complex debugging and root cause analysis efforts across firmware, hardware, OS, and system level interactions to resolve elusive defects and performance issues.\nDrive high standards of software quality through rigorous design reviews, code reviews, unit/integration testing, and adherence to best practices in embedded development.\nProactively identify technical risks, architectural gaps, and performance bottlenecks, and implement solutions before they impact product stability or timelines.\nMentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers on the team, contributing to overall engineering excellence and knowledge sharing.\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives by refining development processes, tools, and workflows to improve reliability, scalability, and development efficiency.\n\nQualifications\nBachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field is required\nMaster’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or a related field preferred\n6 - 8 years of relevant experience in software development\nExperienced in C, C++, Node.js, and Python in an embedded or application development environment\nExperienced with Linux-based systems including application and system-level development\nPreferred experience in Audio digital signal processing (DSP) such as echo cancellation, noise suppression, equalization, and limiters.\nNetworking stack knowledge including TCP, UDP, HTTP/HTTPS, and related protocols\nSystem integration across devices, services, and control systems\nAbility to balance technical and business requirements in complex problem solving\nCloud-based services and APIs supporting device-to-cloud integrations\n\nPer applicable state requirements, the annual pay range for this position ($107,500 - $173,500) which consists of base salary (subject to performance), reflects the hiring range for candidates.
