You will use your knowledge of process modeling and engineering, aqueous chemistry, and wastewater operations to help the company achieve both treatment goals and greenhouse gas removal.\nYou will facilitate CREW’s scientific and engineering innovations into scalable, real-world systems. Working between the R&D, Ops, and Platform teams, you will analyze and interpret lab and operational process data from CREW’s deployments to identify opportunities and drive action and optimizations. This will include designing and refining process flow diagrams, developing mass and energy balances, supporting demonstration and full-scale deployments, troubleshooting process performance in the field, documenting protocols, and driving customer success at partner sites.\nThis is an ideal opportunity for a process-minded, mission-driven engineer who thrives at the intersection of environmental technology and practical system design.\nResponsibilities\nDevelop process flow diagrams, mass and energy balances, and dosing system designs to meet project goals.\n\nCoordinate with the R&D and Operations teams to translate lab results and field data into insights and actions, including technical presentations/reports, data-driven operating decisions, and recommendations.\n\nAddress process issues and propose technical solutions to wastewater partners, which could include process modeling, technical engineering analyses, data analyses, etc.\n\nServe as a technical touch-point for wastewater process and process-mechanical support during partner engagements, to foster satisfaction and confidence in system performance.\n\nWork with the Operations team to set process optimization and carbon removal targets.\n\nOwn technical documentation, training, and design input to internal teams and external partners. Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, standardization of design templates, and lessons-learned captured across deployments.\n\nSupport new project development, including alkalinity dosing design, integration into existing facility systems, and process control strategy.\n\nExperience Requirements\nBachelor’s degree (required) in Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field; a Master’s or PhD degree is a bonus.\n\n5-8+ years of experience in wastewater process engineering, biological treatment design, or related fields (municipal or industrial).\n\nStrong understanding of wastewater treatment processes, including nutrient removal, solids handling, and pH and alkalinity control.\n\nExperience developing and reviewing PFDs, P&IDs, site layouts, mass balance calculations, and process unit design.\n\nComfortable working in a rapidly evolving startup setting and able to quickly synthesize new information to proactively adjust focus and maintain high-impact results.\n\nAbility to travel periodically to deployment sites.\n\nYou practice extreme ownership (no task is too small).\n\nYou love being in the trenches with your team and working with high empathy.\n\nYou have a growth mindset.\n\nBonus Qualifications\nFamiliarity with process modeling tools (BioWin, SUMO, GPS-X, MATLAB, or equivalent).\n\nExperience in carbon capture, carbonate chemistry, or water-chemistry-based carbon removal technologies.\n\nField experience with pilot systems, process commissioning, or operational troubleshooting is highly desirable.\n\nExperience integrating instrumentation, controls, and monitoring systems for process optimization.\n\nExperience with CAD software, including AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or Revit.\n\nCompensation\nCompensation at the time of offer is unique to each candidate and based on a variety of factors such as skill set, experience, qualifications, and work location. Salary is one part of the total compensation and benefits package. Other benefits for eligible employees may include: equity through the form of option grants, flexible paid time off, 401(k) plan, well equipped office environment, and health benefits offerings.\nThe expected base salary range for this role is $85,000 - $130,000.
