This role will have significant ownership of hardware development, spanning initial system architecture and component selection through schematic design, PCB development, hardware bring-up, validation, and final production release.\nThe successful candidate will be comfortable working independently while partnering closely with engineering leadership to make system-level technical decisions, solve complex hardware challenges, and bring designs from concept to production. Strong hands-on expertise in power electronics, FPGA-based control, and hardware development is essential.\nWhat You’ll Do:\nElectrical Design & System Architecture\nTake ownership of complete electrical hardware development, including mixed-signal, digital, and power electronics, from initial architecture through final design release.\n\nEstablish and drive system-level electrical architectures, including power-conversion approaches, control interfaces, protection strategies, and signal-processing chains.\n\nDesign and develop high-voltage DC-DC and DC-AC conversion systems, motor-drive electronics, and power-management circuitry.\n\nCreate and support FPGA-based control and signal-processing systems using VHDL or Verilog, including simulation, timing closure, and integration with embedded control platforms.\n\nDevelop production-ready schematics, bills of materials, and PCB layouts while establishing design practices that support manufacturability, reliability, and consistent production.\n\nContribute to electrical design reviews, failure-mode analysis, and design-for-manufacturing activities to identify and address potential issues before production.\n\nHardware Bring-Up, Testing & Validation\nTake the lead on hardware bring-up, troubleshooting, and debugging of new boards and electronic systems across power, digital, and mixed-signal applications.\n\nUtilize oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, and other laboratory equipment to diagnose hardware performance and complex electrical issues.\n\nDevelop and execute electrical validation and characterization strategies covering areas such as thermal performance, efficiency, EMI, and functional operation.\n\nAnalyze test results and convert findings into actionable hardware and design improvements.\n\nSupport environmental qualification and regulatory compliance activities, including EMC, electrical safety, and other applicable certification requirements.\n\nWhat We’re Looking For:\nRequired\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.\n\n3-7 years of relevant electrical engineering experience focused on hardware or product development.\n\nExtensive hands-on experience designing power electronics, particularly in areas such as DC-DC converters, motor drives, high-voltage systems, or energy-storage interfaces.\n\nStrong background in mixed-signal circuit development, including analog signal conditioning, ADCs, sensors, and filtering.\n\nDemonstrated FPGA development experience with VHDL or Verilog, including simulation, synthesis, and hardware-level validation.\n\nProficiency with Altium or comparable PCB design software, along with a strong understanding of GD&T and formal engineering documentation.\n\nSignificant laboratory experience with advanced electrical test equipment and the ability to independently diagnose and resolve sophisticated hardware problems.\n\nExperience collaborating with contract manufacturers, PCB fabrication partners, and component suppliers, including design feedback, manufacturing considerations, and component qualification.\n\nExcellent communication skills with the ability to lead technical discussions, clearly document engineering decisions, and collaborate effectively across engineering and operations teams.\n\nWork Authorization: Critical Loop does not provide visa sponsorship for this role.
