We combine advances in large language models, agent architectures, and security expertise to create intelligent systems that solve real-world problems for security practitioners.\nWe’re looking for AI Engineers who are excited about building practical AI products. You’ll help design, evaluate, and improve agentic systems that operate in production, working closely with customers, engineers, and product teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible with modern AI.\nWhat you’ll be doing:\nBuild LLM-powered features, workflows, and agentic systems that solve real customer problems.\n\nDesign and implement evaluation frameworks to measure agent quality, reliability, and business impact.\n\nCreate automated benchmarks, regression tests, and datasets for evaluating AI behavior.\n\nInvestigate agent failures and develop systematic approaches to improve performance.\n\nExperiment with prompting, tool use, retrieval, memory, planning, and reasoning strategies.\n\nBuild infrastructure that supports rapid experimentation, evaluation, deployment, and monitoring.\n\nWork closely with customers and internal teams to understand workflows and identify opportunities for AI automation.\n\nContribute to engineering best practices for testing, observability, and production reliability.\n\nStay current with advances in LLMs, agents, evaluation methodologies, and AI engineering.\n\nA core part of this role: evaluating AI systems\nBuilding agents is only half the challenge. Understanding whether they are actually improving is equally important. A significant portion of this role involves designing and maintaining evaluation systems for AI agents operating in real-world security workflows.\nYou’ll help answer questions like:\nIs the agent producing accurate investigations?\n\nAre changes to prompts, tools, or models actually improving outcomes?\n\nHow do we detect regressions before customers experience them?\n\nWhich failure modes matter most?\n\nHow do we measure reliability, trustworthiness, and business impact?\n\nYou’ll build benchmarks, datasets, automated evaluations, regression testing pipelines, and observability systems that help us continuously improve agent performance.\nWhat you’ll bring to the team:\nStrong programming skills, preferably in Python.\n\nSolid software engineering fundamentals, including testing, debugging, and system design.\n\nExperience building applications, projects, or products using LLMs and modern AI tools.\n\nAbility to design experiments, interpret results, and make data-driven decisions.\n\nStrong communication skills and willingness to collaborate across disciplines.\n\nCuriosity, ownership, and a desire to learn quickly.\n\nWhat makes you stand out from others:\nExperience building AI agents, copilots, or workflow automation systems.\n\nExperience designing evaluations, benchmarks, or testing frameworks for AI systems.\n\nFamiliarity with OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or open-source LLM ecosystems.\n\nExperience with retrieval systems, vector databases, and RAG architectures.\n\nFamiliarity with LangGraph, OpenAI Agents SDK, MCP, or similar agent frameworks.\n\nExperience with observability, tracing, and production monitoring for AI systems.\n\nExposure to cybersecurity, security operations, or developer tooling.\n\nOpen-source contributions, research projects, or personal AI products.\n\nExample projects:\nBuilding evaluation suites that measure the quality of AI-driven security investigations.\n\nCreating automated regression tests to detect model and prompt regressions.\n\nImproving agent reasoning, planning, and tool-use capabilities.\n\nDeveloping datasets and benchmarks that reflect real customer workflows.\n\nBuilding systems that automatically identify and categorize agent failures.\n\nDesigning feedback loops that continuously improve production agent performance.\n\nWho thrives at Crogl:\nThe strongest candidates for this role are usually builders.\nYou may have experience as a software engineer, ML engineer, researcher, AI engineer, or founder. What matters most is your ability to learn quickly, work independently, and ship impactful systems. We’re particularly excited about candidates who have:\nBuilt and deployed AI agents.\n\nCreated evaluation frameworks for LLM applications.\n\nPublished AI projects, demos, or open-source contributions.\n\nDeveloped tools that other people actively use.\n\nStrong opinions about what makes AI systems reliable and useful.\n\nIf you’ve spent nights and weekends building AI products because you genuinely enjoy it, you’ll probably fit in well here.\nWhat we value:\nWe care more about demonstrated ability than specific credentials.\nYou might be a great fit if you’ve:\nBuilt AI products, agents, or developer tools that people actually use.\n\nCreated evaluation frameworks, benchmarks, or testing systems for LLM applications.\n\nContributed to open-source AI projects.\n\nConducted independent research or published technical writing.\n\nBuilt ambitious side projects and iterated on them based on real-world feedback.\n\nShown exceptional curiosity and a track record of learning quickly.\n\nWe’re especially interested in candidates who can show us what they’ve built. GitHub repositories, demos, blog posts, open-source contributions, benchmarks, evaluation frameworks, AI products, and side projects are all valuable signals.\nWe don’t expect candidates to check every box. If you’re excited about the role and believe you can contribute, we’d encourage you to apply.\nWhat success looks like:\nWithin your first six months, you will:\nShip improvements to production AI systems used by customers.\n\nHelp establish rigorous evaluation practices across the company.\n\nContribute new ideas that improve agent performance and reliability.\n\nDevelop a strong understanding of customer workflows and security investigations.\n\nBecome a trusted contributor across engineering, product, and AI initiatives.\n\nWhy Crogl?\nWork on some of the most challenging problems in applied AI.\n\nHelp define how agentic systems are evaluated and deployed in production.\n\nJoin a small, highly collaborative team with significant ownership and impact.\n\nLearn quickly while working alongside experienced engineers, researchers, and security experts.\n\nShape the future of AI-powered security operations.","description_format":"text","description_chars":6384,"description_truncated":false,"requirements":{"experience_years_min":null,"management_years_min":null,"team_size_min":null,"manages_managers":false,"education":null,"security_clearance":false,"languages":[]},"benefits":[],"hiring_locations":[{"name":"United States","iso":"US","kind":"country"}],"hiring_excludes":[],"relocation_offered":false,"industries":["Security Operations","AI Agents"],"lifecycle":[{"event":"open","at":"2026-06-30T20:17:00Z"}],"visa":[{"country":"US","licensed_sponsor":true,"evidence":"H-1B filings in 12 months: 3","filings_12m":3,"filings_prev_12m":1,"green_card_filings_12m":0,"median_offered_wage_usd":217500,"route":null,"cap_exempt":false,"checked_at":"2026-10-15T11:24:14+00:00","sources":["US Department of Labor: LCA disclosure data (H-1B, H-1B1, E-3)"],"filings_for_role_12m":2}],"liveness":{"score":4,"band":"cold","label":"Long shot","p_open":1,"p_active":0.137,"p_room":0.28,"age_days":107,"expected_fill_days":8,"reasons":["conf:3","win:tail","crowd:"],"computed_at":"2026-10-16T05:45:00Z"},"pay":null,"html_url":"https://alion.io/job/crogl-ai-engineer","json_url":"https://alion.io/job/crogl-ai-engineer.json","meta":{"generated_at":"2026-10-16T22:05:17Z","cache_seconds":300,"methodology":"https://alion.io/methodology","terms":"https://alion.io/terms","contact":"https://alion.io/contact","api":"https://alion.io/developers","about":"Alion is a live layer of people, companies and AI agents: who they are, whether they are real and active right now, what they do and how to work with them, readable by people and by agents and paid per call.","catalog":"https://alion.io/catalog.json","usage":{"tier":"crawler_verified","counted_by":"address","units_charged":1,"used_today":3470,"day_limit":null,"remaining_today":null,"minute_limit":300,"resets_at":"2026-10-17T00:00:00Z"}},"offers":[{"id":"company.slices","title":"One company in depth, by slice","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002,"plus_per_slice":{"credits":0.05,"usd":0.005}},"unit":"per company, plus each slice with data","note":"the employer in depth","call":{"mcp_tool":"get_company","arguments":{"id":8135},"rest":"https://alion.io/mcp/rest/get_company?id=8135"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.slices&for=job%2Fcrogl-ai-engineer"},{"id":"market.stats","title":"A market slice: pay, demand and time to fill","status":"live","price":{"credits":1,"usd":0.1},"unit":"per slice","note":"pay, demand and time to fill for this role and place","call":{"mcp_tool":"market_stats"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=market.stats&for=job%2Fcrogl-ai-engineer"},{"id":"job.search","title":"Open jobs by role, technology, place, pay and visa","status":"live","price":{"credits":0.02,"usd":0.002},"unit":"per posting in a list","note":"similar open postings","call":{"mcp_tool":"search_jobs"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=job.search&for=job%2Fcrogl-ai-engineer"},{"id":"company.verify","title":"Is this company real and active right now","status":"pilot","price":null,"unit":"per company","request":{"url":"https://alion.io/catalog/request","method":"POST","body":"{\"offer\": \"company.verify\", \"for\": \"job/crogl-ai-engineer\", \"note\": \"what you need it for\"}"},"human":"https://alion.io/catalog?offer=company.verify&for=job%2Fcrogl-ai-engineer"}]}
