The role combines solution architecture with hands-on involvement in application development, system integration, database design and technical documentation.\nYou will work with Java-based microservices, Angular applications, Oracle databases, AWS cloud services and modern DevSecOps practices.\nYour Responsibilities\nDefine the architecture and technical design of complex information systems.\nDesign and develop application components, reusable building blocks and microservices.\nReview existing system architectures and assess their integration with other information systems.\nDesign secure and scalable interoperability solutions connecting systems managed by different organisations.\nImplement technical architectures across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments.\nDesign, develop and maintain REST APIs and integration services.\nContribute to the design and maintenance of web application front-end layers.\nDesign and maintain database layers for multi-tier applications.\nPerform data analysis, data modelling and physical database design.\nDevelop and maintain database stored procedures.\nConfigure, optimise and integrate databases with enterprise applications.\nBuild and maintain CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.\nProduce software architecture documents and other technical documentation.\nContribute to testing, deployment, evaluation and technical reporting.\nParticipate in technical working groups, planning sessions, progress meetings and meetings with users.\nSupport the responsible adoption of AI-assisted development tools. \nRequired Experience and Skills\nBachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.\nAt least 15 years of professional IT experience with a Master’s degree, or 17 years with a Bachelor’s degree.\nAt least 5 years of experience in application and cloud architecture projects.\nAt least 10 years of experience in application design and business process analysis.\nAt least 5 years of professional experience with Java and Hibernate.\nAt least 5 years of experience designing and integrating REST APIs.\nAt least 5 years of experience with CI/CD pipelines using Maven, Bamboo and GitLab CI.\nAt least 5 years of experience with Git and GitLab workflows, including branching and merge requests.\nAt least 5 years of experience with JPA, Spring Security and Spring Boot.\nStrong experience producing architecture and technical design documentation.\nEnglish language proficiency at C1 level or above.\nTechnical Environment\nJava, JPA, Hibernate, Spring Boot and Spring Security\nREST APIs and microservices architecture\nAngular and Nginx\nOracle databases\nAWS, including EC2, ECS, EKS, S3, EBS, VPC and CloudWatch\nDocker and Kubernetes\nGit, GitLab and GitLab CI\nMaven and Bamboo\nTerraform or AWS CloudFormation\nOpenID Connect, mutual TLS and IAM\nBlue-green and canary deployment strategies\nAgile, DevSecOps and PM² practices \nNice to Have\nExperience with AWS cloud adoption and migration projects.\nStrong knowledge of Docker and Kubernetes.\nExperience with Angular and Spring Cloud.\nKnowledge of OpenAPI, Swagger and API Gateway solutions.\nExperience with HashiCorp Vault, SonarQube, Dynatrace or OWASP security tools.\nKnowledge of encryption techniques and secure application architecture.\nExperience with Splunk, Logstash or Logback.\nKnowledge of Service-Oriented Architecture and Enterprise Architecture.\nExperience with AI-assisted code analysis or development tools. \nWork Arrangement\nLong-term assignment for a European institution.\nRemote work from an EU Member State.\nOccasional on-site presence in Brussels may be required with advance notice.\nCandidates must be available to work during standard Brussels business hours.\nExpected project duration of up to four years.\nCandidates must be able to comply with the security and confidentiality requirements applicable to European institutional environments. \nWhy Cronos Europa?\nAt Cronos Europa, you will join a dynamic and multicultural environment where your expertise contributes to large-scale digital solutions used across Europe.
