Integration & Data Platform Engineer, Senior Analyst

FX and cross-border payments are often complex and expensive, especially when operating in emerging markets. Crown Agents Bank (CAB) wraps its deep and trusted relationships and strength of network around innovative digital capabilities, and cross-border transaction banking solutions to enable fintech, corporates, governments, development organisations and banks to move money to, from, and across often hard-to-reach markets.

Role Purpose

Crown Agents Bank connects emerging and frontier markets to the rest of the world, and that depends on software that can reliably integrate CAB's own systems with a wide range of third-party platforms and internal data consumers. This role exists to help build and maintain the integration solutions and cloud-native platforms that make that possible - which may include work on the team's Operational Data Store (built on Debezium, Java, Spring Boot and Aurora Serverless v2) as one part of a broader integration engineering remit, depending on project needs. Working under the guidance of the Associate Vice President and the Data and Integration Services Lead, the Senior Analyst works hands-on, turning agreed designs into working, well-tested software, and contributing ideas and perspective to the design discussions that shape them. Engineers are expected and encouraged to utilise the latest in AI tooling in their delivery and champion it’s use in our platforms.

Role Responsibilites

• Build and maintain integration solutions and cloud-native components across CAB's technology estate - for example the team's Operational Data Store depending on where project priorities lie.
• Develop integrations with third-party systems and internal platforms using AWS services such as ECS Fargate, SQS, MSK, S3, IAM, etc., working from designs agreed with the AVP and Lead and contributing improvements along the way.
• Write production-quality code and tests, owning delivery of assigned features and integration components from design handover through to release.
• Contribute practical input and ideas to design discussions, questioning assumptions and flagging risks or alternatives.
• Build and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines using Git and GitHub Actions, for the services and integrations you own.
• Support observability and data quality monitoring using Dynatrace, investigating and helping resolve issues as they arise.
• Use AI coding assistants and LLM-assisted development practices as a routine part of day-to-day delivery, and share useful tools or techniques with the team.
• Work with stakeholders across Technology and Operations to understand requirements and translate them into working software, escalating ambiguity or risk to the AVP or Lead rather than guessing.
• Take part in code reviews and design reviews, giving and receiving feedback that raises the quality of the team's work.
• Take the initiative to identify gaps, bugs or opportunities for improvement across the integration estate, and follow through on fixing them, even outside assigned work.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related STEM discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

• AWS or Anthropic certifications (for example, AWS Solutions Architect Associate) are a plus, but not required; demonstrable, hands-on use of AI coding assistants and LLM-assisted development is valued in place of any formal AI certification.

• Evidence of ongoing self-directed learning, such as courses, certifications or personal projects, is welcomed.

Experience

• 2-3 years' experience delivering features and integrations hands-on within an established cloud or software engineering environment, building the track record and judgement to take on greater ownership over time.

• Experience building services on AWS, with exposure to services such as ECS Fargate, SQS, MSK, S3, IAM, core networking and RDS/RDS Aurora, etc.

• Hands on experience with Java and Spring Boot; exposure to change data capture tools such as Debezium, and to Postgres or Aurora Serverless v2, is an advantage where these are used on a given project.

• Some experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code and with Git/GitHub Actions, or an equivalent, for CI/CD.

• Exposure to observability tooling such as Dynatrace, and/or to reporting and visualisation tools is beneficial.

• Interest in, or early experience using, AI coding assistants and LLM-assisted development as part of the software development lifecycle; relevant AWS or Anthropic certifications are a plus.

• Exposure to Oracle is a minor additional plus given CAB's core banking system runs on Oracle; financial services or SWIFT payments knowledge is helpful but not required to succeed in this role.
