Whether that experience is online or in-person, streaming video, theatrical, games, merchandise, events and more, it’s powered by the anime content we all love.\nJoin our team, and help us shape the future of anime!\nAbout The Role:\nIn the role at Crunchyroll as a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for the accurate record keeping of our growing number and value of content assets and related liabilities under the applicable IFRS standards and Crunchyroll/Sony accounting policies.\nReporting to our Senior Manager, Content Accounting, you will be heavily involved in month-end close activities such as content data report preparation, journal entry preparation, and reconciliation preparation. You will help resolve complex accounting issues, working cross-functionally with royalty, deal, and FP&A teams, and responding to internal and external inquiries. \nA day in the life of our Content Senior Accountant:\nYou will be a part of the team responsible for the financial integrity of our content commitments, assets (capitalization), liabilities (payments), and expenses (amortization) and while ensuring the connectivity and consistency of our reporting among other related groups (such as the royalty reporting team (FCR) and deal management team).\nThe Senior Accountant will work closely with the Content Accounting team to ensure the accuracy of records that are maintained in our financial ledgers (NetSuite) as they pertain to Content Accounting related accounts.\nSome of the responsibilities include:\nPreparing monthly and quarterly close journal entries accounting for all content assets and liabilities acquired in the period \nPreparing quarterly royalty expense and liability calculations based on the performance of titles\nDeveloping a deep understanding of our content data in order to analyze and reconcile monthly, and proactively resolving issues through cross-functional collaboration\nPerforming detailed financial statement analyses, including discussions on various issues, analysis, preparation, and review of account reconciliations \nCollaborating with Deal Management and Business Affairs (as needed) to understand proper accounting treatment for content agreements and transactions (e.g. licensing contracts, co-production deals, etc.)\nSupporting FP&A team by providing accurate financial data to assist with their budget vs. actual analysis \nPartnering with the Senior Manager, Content Accounting to ensure timely completion of ad hoc financial analyses, and prioritize process improvement initiatives within the team\nParticipate in system implementations/upgrades, and various process automation projects by performing user acceptance testing and other reviewing tasks\nAssist in establishing and documenting internal control policies, procedures, and control activities to support future compliance and governance initiatives \nMeaningfully and proactively engaging in internal projects to help drive successful implementation\nAbout You:\n5+ years of accounting experience\nB.S. in Accounting with working knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS\nPublic accounting experience (preferred, but not required)\nCPA designation (preferred, but not required)\nExperience with SOX controls and internal control environment \nAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel skills (Index Match, sumifs, pivot tables, etc.)\nDemonstrated understanding of accounting principles and its application on practical data\nResearch and documentation skills on complex technical accounting matters\nA curiosity mindset to understand how our team supports and is supported by other teams\nA “kaizen” attitude to improve and enhance existing processes to anticipate the needs of the future and increase operational efficiency\nProven ability to prioritize, and drive accountability across multiple workstreams\nStrong analytical skills with the ability to interpret large volumes of financial data and identify trends, anomalies, and actionable insights\nAbout The Team:\nThe Crunchyroll Accounting Team is a global organization of over 50 professionals working together to support all of our departments and ensuring compliance with accounting standards, company policy and regulatory bodies. \nOur accountants, analysts, and managers balance the bottom line with several budget priorities and revenue streams.
