Our lease portfolio reflects a vertically integrated data center business: land, powered shell, build-to-suit, colocation, ground leases, equipment, and energy-related arrangements. Very few look alike. You’ll set the standard for how this non-standard portfolio is accounted for under ASC 842 and make sure it runs cleanly every month as the business scales.\nThis is a player-coach role. You’ll personally work the most complex agreements and judgments, review the work of a Senior Accountant (and future team members) who handles day-to-day lease administration and reconciliations. You’ll partner closely with the Senior Manager, General Ledger, Technical Accounting, Legal, Real Estate, Data Center Development, Treasury, Tax, and FP&A, and you’ll be the primary lease contact for external auditors. You’ll thrive in this role if you’re a strong technical accountant who can also build process, develop people, and influence the business.\nWhat You’ll Be Working On:\nTechnical accounting: Own ASC 842 conclusions for complex arrangements, including embedded leases, variable payments, option assessments, classification, modifications, and terminations\n\nMemos and policy: Draft and review lease memos, own the lease policy and ensure consistent application across lease portfolio\n\nLeaseQuery governance: Own the lease subledger, including reviewing new leases, modifications, remeasurements ensuring appropriate supporting documentation\n\nMonth-end close: Own the lease close end to end, including journal entries, liability and ROU roll-forwards, and GL and AP reconciliations, delivered on the close calendar\n\nReview and escalations: Review Senior Accountant entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis, and resolve escalations\n\nReporting and disclosures: Partner heavily with financial reporting team on lease disclosures, including maturity analysis, weighted-average term and discount rate, and lease cost components\n\nCross-functional partnership: Work with Legal, Real Estate, Data Center Development, Procurement, FP&A, Treasury, and Tax on lease intake and portfolio management\n\nControls and audit: Own SOX controls and audit support for the leases\n\nTeam leadership: Coach and develop the Senior Accountant, and build the lease function as it grows, including roles, documentation, and backup coverage\n\nProcess improvement: Build intake workflows, standard procedures, and automation that scale with the business\n\nWhat You’ll Bring to the Team:\n7-10 years of accounting experience, including at least 4 years of hands-on ASC 842 experience and deep familiarity with non-standard lease structures\n\nBachelor’s degree (or higher) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field and CPA\n\nDemonstrated ability to reach technical accounting conclusions\n\nExperience leading or mentoring senior and staff accountants (people management experience preferred)\n\nExperience with a lease accounting system (LeaseQuery preferred; CoStar, or similar)\n\nStrong month-end close, reconciliation, and controls discipline in a public or public-ready environment\n\nAdvanced Excel skills and comfort with large data sets\n\nStrong communication skills and the ability to influence business partners\n\nBonus Points:\nBig 4 or public accounting experience, plus experience at a high-growth technology or infrastructure company\n\nExposure to data center, energy, real estate development, or other capital-intensive industries\n\nHands-on experience with build-to-suit, powered shell, colocation, or ground lease structures\n\nSOX 404 experience, managing external audit relationships, and building process and teams in a fast-scaling environment\n\nBenefits:\nCompetitive compensation and equity packages\n\nRestricted Stock Units\n\nPaid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs\n\nComprehensive health, dental & vision insurance\n\nEmployer contributions to HSA account\n\nPaid parental leave\n\nPaid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability\n\nProfessional development & tuition reimbursement\n\nMental health & wellness support\n\nCommuter benefits (parking & transit)\n\nCell phone stipend\n\n401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary\n\nVolunteer time off\n\nGlobal travel insurance & emergency assistance\n\nDaily meals allowance\n\nAdditional perks & programs specific to location\n\nCompensation:\nCompensation will be paid in the range of $115,000 - $140,000.
