The team delivers capital solutions across tax equity, preferred equity, debt, and advisory services to sponsors, developers, and investors. This role sits on the tax/preferred equity side of the team and is a hands-on role for a financially rigorous analyst with foundational knowledge of these structures and a strong desire to grow within structured renewable energy finance, covering project-level and portfolio-level transactions in renewable energy and energy transition infrastructure. The Associate will support the screening, underwriting, structuring, and execution of transactions from intake to closing.\nThe role requires strong financial modeling skills, exposure to renewables and energy transition markets, and the ability to operate in a fast-paced startup environment.\nThis position is ideal for candidates with at least 2 years of relevant experience in investment banking, structured finance, renewable energy, infrastructure investing, or a closely related field who are looking to deepen their structuring expertise in a fast-moving, technology-forward environment.\nWhat you'll do\nSupport the screening and underwriting of new opportunities, including initial reviews, pre-pricing screens, and running/updating financial models for tax/hybrid and preferred equity transactions.\n\nAssist in the preparation of investment materials for Investment Committee, including transaction economics, sensitivities, and risk analyses.\n\nWork closely with senior members of the Structuring team to drive transactions from intake to closing.\n\nAnalyze sponsor financials, project contracts, and diligence materials to help identify risks and value drivers.\n\nLeverage technology and AI-enabled tools to increase accuracy and efficiency in modeling, diligence, and reporting.\n\nContribute to process improvements and template standardization (models, IC memos, term sheets) across the Structuring team.\n\nSupport limited external interactions with developers, investors, and advisors under guidance from senior team members.\n\nAssist with portfolio management and reporting as needed, including monitoring project performance against underwriting.\n\nSupport platform initiatives to scale tax equity workflows and develop new tech-enabled products and solutions for financing processes.\n\nWhat you bring\nBachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field; MBA or MS a plus.\n\nMinimum 2+ years of experience in renewable energy, structured finance, infrastructure investing, investment banking, or a closely related field.\n\nDemonstrated exposure to tax equity, project finance, or other structured renewable energy transactions.\n\nStrong financial modeling and structuring skills, with mastery of core valuation and return concepts.\n\nStrong Excel skills, including comfort building and navigating complex financial models; VBA or Python skills a plus.\n\nExperience preparing transaction materials and conducting due diligence.\n\nFamiliarity with tax equity structures (partnership flip, T-flip, hybrid, preferred equity), including allocations, capital accounts, and flip mechanics.\n\nExposure to IRS requirements, safe harbor tests, or recapture provisions a plus but not required.\n\nExperience in a transaction-focused environment with client interaction responsibility is a plus.\n\nStrong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams in a fast-paced environment.\n\nComfortable adopting new technology platforms and integrating AI tools into daily workflows.\n\nFINRA SIE, Series 79, and 63, or willingness to obtain them under Crux’s broker-dealer sponsorship.\n\nWhat we bring\nBacking, traction & brand:\nWe have raised $77 million in capital from some of the best venture and strategic investors, including Andreessen Horowitz, Lowercarbon Capital, New System Ventures, Ardent Venture Partners, Pattern, Clearway, EDFR, Intersect, LS Power, Orsted, Hartree Partners, Liberty Mutual Strategic Ventures, MassMutual Ventures, and OMERS Ventures.\n\n$500m debt warehouse facility from Nuveen to invest in clean energy.\n\nHave been profitable and are growing exponentially\n\nWe have closed over 120+ transactions in just the last 2 years, facilitating billions of dollars of capital flowing into renewables projects\n\nCulture & working dynamic\nRemote-first operating model: Work from anywhere in the US and Canada, or work out of our optional offices in DC, NYC, & SF.
