This position performs technical engineering activities related to supporting the CSCC virtualization environments which includes planning, designing, implementing, maintaining, and troubleshooting. This role requires technical project leadership duties and is the subject matter expert for their assigned systems.\nESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS\nSystem Design & Project Management\nLeads the system design and planning of enterprise data center server infrastructure and virtual server environments.\nArchitects scalable, high-availability physical server solutions and virtualization platforms to support critical business workloads.\nDevelops comprehensive system designs, creates detailed technical specifications, manages large-scale infrastructure projects through implementation, coordinates cross-functional teams, works with external vendors and ensures projects are completed on time.\nOversees server hardware lifecycle management, virtualization technologies (including compute, storage, and networking virtualization), disaster recovery strategies, and compliance with security and regulatory standards.\nRequires strong technical expertise combined with effective project management skills.\nSystems Administration\nPerforms tasks associated with pre-production designing, planning, installation, configuration, operation, development, modification, maintenance, and repair of virtualized systems, software, and applications.\nInstalls and configures physical servers, including operating systems, software applications, and tools.\nProvides detailed pre-production engineering schematics, flowcharts, and drawings of infrastructure in accordance with the College's needs and recommended best practices.\nAssures minimum service interruptions by analyzing performance, scalability and availability of resources.\nDevelops strategies for, and completes performance tuning of, College mission-critical virtualization systems. Analyzes, tests, and troubleshoots assigned systems.\nMaintains confidentiality of any information accessed, received, processed, viewed, etc., within the College's systems, storage, office spaces or other areas utilized within the IT department.\nRequired to serve on On-Call/On-Duty rotations for after-hours support, 24/7 availability.\nSupporting & Reporting\nProvides Tier III support for listed assigned systems and assists with in-depth troubleshooting for operational teams.\nSchedules system downtime with end users and technical staff members to facilitate hardware and software changes following CSCC change management procedures.\nDocuments solutions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure services are delivered in an effective and efficient manner for assigned and related areas of responsibility.\nEnsures policies, procedures, rules, and regulations are being met and followed according to college practices.Understands and documents the technical requirements for new services or service enhancements. \nAdvises on technological decisions and provides service implementation estimates. Supports the overall operations of assigned environments, ensuring they meet requirements and performance goals.\nIdentifies reusable/preconfigured service components or standard products from the market to leverage and assemble the service/solution.\nWorks closely with appropriate stakeholders to ensure implementation meets design requirements.\nCulture of Respect\nFosters and maintains a safe environment of respect and inclusion for faculty, staff, students, and members of the community.\nOther Duties & Responsibilities:\nMINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED\nHigh School Diploma or Equivalency.\n\nAt least Six (6) years of progressively responsible technical experience managing virtualization environments\n\n*An appropriate combination of education, training, coursework and experience may qualify a candidate.\nKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES\nKnowledge of: Knowledge of: server and desktop virtualization using VMware vSphere, VMware Horizon, and Microsoft Hyper-V; enterprise SAN systems; networking as it relates to virtualization; server hardware monitoring and troubleshooting; Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery; server and desktop operating systems and management; system monitoring and logging\nSkilled in: verbal and written communication; managing project work, operating job equipment; planning, scheduling and organizing work; general typing; application of job software programs; application of technical skills in area of specialization.\nAbility to: think creatively and exploit opportunities; simplify and synthesize complex situations with consideration to all elements; work independently demonstrating initiative; develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the College; effectively work with persons of varying cultures; analyze technical problems, troubleshoot and draw appropriate conclusions; perform light manual labor for extended periods of time; maintain confidential and sensitive information; maintain accurate and complete work records; coordinate multiple activities and tasks; exhibit flexibility in work schedule and job tasks; apply technical and analytical applications.\nLICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS\nState Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).\n*CSCC has the right to revise this position description at any time.
