Work primarily takes place at North Campus Edmonton.\nThe School of Dentistry is expanding its research enterprise-and we’re looking for a highly organized, proactive Research Project Coordinator to help drive our growing portfolio of research programs, grants, and trainee initiatives.\nIn this role, you’ll support faculty, trainees, and research units by coordinating project planning, funding acquisition, ethics compliance, data governance, and full lifecycle management of research studies. You’ll also manage internal grants, adjudication committees, research events, and departmental reporting that showcases our impact.\nIf you thrive in a fast-paced academic environment, enjoy supporting multidisciplinary teams, and have a talent for turning complex research workflows into smooth, well-managed processes, this role is for you.\n What You’ll Do\nResearch Coordination (70%)\nIdentify targeted internal and external funding opportunities and share them with faculty and trainees.\nSupport PIs with grant writing, editing, budget development, and full application assembly.\nEnsure compliance with UAPPOL, REB/ARISE, HIA, Tri-Agency guidelines, EDI-D, and Research Data Management (RDM) requirements.\nTrack project timelines, KPIs, publications, and research outputs using digital project management tools.\nLiaise with RSO, VPRI, Tri-Agency sponsors, Alberta Innovates, and external partners.\nCoordinate research meetings, agendas, action items, and follow-ups.\nSupport knowledge mobilization through seminar series, abstracts, and research dissemination.\nResearch Administration (30%)\nManage internal grants, endowments, seed funding programs, and applicant intake.\nCoordinate adjudication committees, scoring rubrics, reviewer logistics, and award notifications.\nSupport departmental research committees with agendas, minutes, and governance documentation.\nDeliver onboarding for new investigators and connect them to U of A research resources.\nMaintain databases of grants, awards, publications, and trainee participation for accreditation and annual reporting.\nCoordinate research events, symposiums, workshops, and guest speaker sessions.\nCreate and maintain research web content and collaborate with FoMD Communications on newsletters and public engagement.\n What You Bring\nEducation & ExperienceA Bachelor’s degree in a relevant scientific, health, or research administration field is required. A Master’s degree is desirable, and an equivalent combination of education and progressive experience will be considered.\n3-5 years of progressive experience in academic research administration or project coordination.\n\nTechnical Skills\nStrong understanding of health sciences research, ethics systems (ARISE/REB), HIA, and Tri-Agency mandates (EDI-D, RDM).\nHigh proficiency with academic databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science) and research metrics.\nSkilled with Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, project management tools (Asana, Trello, Monday.com), and virtual collaboration platforms.\nAbility to synthesize complex data into clear, actionable insights.\nProject & Communication Skills\nDemonstrated expertise supporting pre- and post-award grant processes.\nExceptional organization and ability to manage multiple deadlines across diverse projects.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills for grant editing, governance documentation, and web content.\nStrong
