The Chair is currently seeking a Technical Editor and Writer to work closely with the Chairholder and associated students to develop, coordinate, and finalize high-quality communication and research materials.\n Editing and proofreading thesis for graduate students.\nHigh-level editing and formatting for academic journal and conference submissions.\nHigh-level editing and formatting for technical reports for funding agencies.\nFamiliarity with a variety of editing style guides.\nAssisting Chair holder in writing and editing of grants and award applications.\nResearching and writing materials that raise awareness and the profile of the Chair.\nAssisting in developing written and graphic communications and public relations material for the Chair.\nAssisting Chair holder in preparing annual reports for the University, NSERC, or industrial partners.\nHelp in maintaining Chair website, including writing content/material for new pages, updating existing ones as required, ensuring that information is current and accurate.\nProducing clear, concise and accurate material for different audiences and in various online and printed forms.\nPowerPoint presentations, and website articles and maintenance.\nQuickly assessing the writing style necessary for each project and effortlessly transition from one style to another.\nWorking in a collaborative environment where consultation with the Chair Staff and graduate students determines the guiding principles for each writing project.\nOccasionally, communicating with publishers as necessary.\nMay include writing instruction, tutorial, and independent research as necessary.\nOrganizing Chair related meetings and workshops.\nOccasionally providing office admin support to the Chair holder.\n Minimum diploma or certificate in editing, journalism, or a related discipline (or an equivalent combination of education and experience).\nPossess at least three years of demonstrated experience in professional editing. \nMust be proficient in desktop publishing.\nOutstanding written editing abilities, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a commitment to high-quality service.\nExpertise in MS Office products and desktop publishing software.\nExceptional organizational skills, with a proven ability to prioritize, manage multiple tasks, and maintain keen attention to detail.\nFamiliarity with scientific journal publishing, research/information gathering, and (as an asset) knowledge of the engineering profession and the University of Alberta.\nDetail-oriented editor with a professional, poised, and positive approach,
