Manages self and others assertively ensuring compliance with all federal, company, and local rules and regulations\nPrimary Activities and Responsibilities\nExecute and communicate the safety plan outlined by the Mechanical Department, Shop Management, and Safety Committees.\nFacilitate thorough safety and job briefings to promote safe practices and proper procedures for completing assigned tasks.\nConduct safety observations and operational tests to ensure compliance.\nEliminate, control, and communicate hazards and safety issues within the shop elevating for resolution as necessary.\nManage the servicing, repair, and preventative maintenance of locomotives.\nEnsure compliance with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and CSX rules and regulations.\nManage manpower and facility resource utilization efficiently and effectively.\nCoach, develop, and train others to achieve desirable results.\nMiscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager.\nMinimum Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma/GED\n1 or more years of experience in CSX Mechanical Operations Desk experience\n1 or more years of supervisory experience in Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, Skilled Trades (building/construction, electrical, mechanical), Manufacturing or the Military\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor's Degree/4-year Degree\n3 or more years of supervisory experience in Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, Skilled Trades (building/construction, electrical, mechanical), Manufacturing, or the Military\nJourneyman Mechanic\nKnowledge and Skills\nFederal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulatory standards\nMicrosoft Office skills\nRailroad industry knowledge\nBasic mechanical concepts\nFinancial concepts\nLeadership\nThe CSX Leadership Model is the foundation of our Talent Strategy and is what drives CSX performance.
