Fundamentals of this position consist of supervising the crew to assure all vehicles are loaded/unloaded in a quality manner in order to deliver a damage free product. CSX Intermodal Terminals, Inc. (CSXIT) serves as an independent contractor at the Annapolis Junction facility through services provided by Total Distribution Services Inc. (TDSI) to its customers.\nPrimary Activities and Responsibilities\nEnsure decisions are made to maximize profitability of the company\n\nEnsure all CSX intermodal safety and environmental policies are adhered to by all employees and contractors\n\nOversee crew, including:\nSafety briefings\n\nChecking attendance\n\nSafety checks and ensuring employees are wearing proper PPE (uniform, bump camp, boots, gloves, safety glasses)\n\nAssign job responsibilities (door openers, bridge plate setters, etc.)\n\nKeep office staff and management informed of any problems (no bay tags, bad orders, major damage, etc.)\n\nPerform maintenance checks on all ramps and shuttle vehicles\n\nLoad shuttle vehicles with proper tools (coolers, door balls, seal breakers, booster batteries, air tanks, etc.)\n\nEnsure all work has been performed properly at the end of shifts including track protection removal, proper equipment and tool storage, and vehicle clean-outs\n\nWork with Terminal Manager to set short and long-term plans for maintenance, upgrades, and updates in accordance with CSX rules and guidelines\n\nMake sure all periodic inspections (daily, weekly, and monthly) are performed, reviewed, and addressed\n\nAssist Terminal Manager in determining sufficient staffing levels and establish schedules to maximize the use of clerical and contract employees\n\nImplement training of all new employees and recurrent training for all other employees and contractors\n\nEnsure all necessary departments of CSX intermodal are informed of all terminal needs and special conditions (daily updates if necessary).\n\nMiscellaneous activities and responsibilities as assigned by manager\n\nMinimum Qualifications\nHigh School Diploma/GED\n\n1 or more years of experience in Transportation, Logistics, or Rail Operations\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nBachelor's Degree/4-year Degree\n\n2 or more years of supervisory experience in Transportation, Logistics, or Rail Operations\n\nKnowledge and Skills\nRailroad industry knowledge\n\nWorking knowledge of load/unload process\n\nProficient in Microsoft Office\n\nEffective communication skills (written and verbal)\n\nFederal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulatory knowledge\n\nKnowledge of Association of American Railroad (AAR) guidelines\n\nAbility to lift 50 lbs. overhead and work at varied levels of heights\n\nStrong Business Acumen\n\nLeadership\nThe CSX Leadership Model is the foundation of our Talent Strategy and is what drives CSX performance.
