Automation Engineer\nCTERA is looking for a QA Automation Engineer to join our team!\nWe are looking for a curious, hands-on, and collaborative QA Automation Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems, learning new technologies, and taking ownership of product quality.\nIn this role, you’ll work primarily on test automation, QA infrastructure, and continuous quality validation, while collaborating closely with developers and QA engineers throughout the development lifecycle.\nYou’ll work with modern engineering and AI-powered tools, with Cursor as a key part of our daily workflow, and contribute to the ongoing development and maintenance of our QA Cloud Agent.\nWhat you’ll do\nOwn the quality of the product areas you cover, from test strategy and planning through release sign-off.\nCreate test plans for new features, defining scope, risks, test coverage, integration coverage, automation coverage, and exit criteria.\nDesign, build, and maintain automated tests using Java for API automation and Playwright for UI automation.\nBuild and maintain QA infrastructure, test environments, and automation frameworks.\nWork on the ongoing development and maintenance of our QA Cloud Agent.\nValidate and maintain automated test suites running in Jenkins, including nightly, smoke, sanity, development, and patch suites.\nInvestigate test failures and determine whether the root cause is a product defect, automation issue, or environment problem.\nTroubleshoot issues using logs and tools across Linux, SSH, and networking environments.\nExecute end-to-end and upgrade testing when required.\nCollaborate closely with developers, QA engineers, and team leads to define quality expectations and resolve issues.\nUse AI tools to improve test development, troubleshooting, automation, and day-to-day engineering workflows.\nRequirements\nWhat we’re looking for\nUp to 4 years of experience in Software QA / Quality Assurance.\nHands-on experience with test automation.\nFamiliarity with modern AI tools and the ability and willingness to incorporate them into your daily engineering workflow.\nExperience with Java-based API automation.\nExperience with Playwright, Selenium, or a similar UI automation framework.\nExperience with Jenkins or another CI/CD system, including investigating failures through logs and troubleshooting.\nExperience contributing to or creating test plans for new features.\nKnowledge of Linux, SSH, and networking, with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues independently.\nStrong analytical and troubleshooting skills.\nClear written and verbal English communication skills.\nA strong team player who enjoys working collaboratively.\nA curious mindset and strong desire to learn new technologies, tools, and methodologies.\nA proactive approach and willingness to take ownership and solve problems.\nNice to have\nExperience testing upgrades, database migrations, or multi-server systems.\nFamiliarity with Kubernetes and/or other container orchestration technologies.\nFamiliarity with Nomad, Consul, Envoy, Kafka, or S3-compatible
