We are opening a new campus facility that will have two of our businesses (Marley and Ingenia Technologies) evolving and growing together at SPX's very first campus.\nThe Assembler I position is responsible for independently assembling cooling towers or complete custom air handling systems including all mechanical and modular components, in accordance with engineering drawings, build orders, specifications, and quality standards. This position performs mechanical assembly, system integration, troubleshooting, fit-up, and final assembly activities associated with engineered-to-order air handling equipment.\nThe Assembler I is expected to develop foundational assembly skills, mechanical aptitude, product knowledge, and familiarity with assembly processes while contributing to safety, quality, productivity, and schedule performance. The position performs standardized and repetitive assembly tasks while learning blueprint interpretation, assembly techniques, and system configurations associated with engineered-to-order air handling equipment. The Assembler I may work in multiple assembly stations as skill levels progress and may assume additional duties as assigned.\nWhat you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)\nWhile each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:\nAssemble, adjust, and install prefabricated parts to manufacture air handling systems \nPerform the various adjustments, settings, and fine-tuning operations necessary for assembly\nInterpret blueprints, assembly drawings, bills of material, and engineering revisions accurately\nAssemble and install mechanical, structural, and modular system components including fan sections,coils, dampers, filter systems, access sections, electrical mounting components, and related assemblies\nIndependently assemble complete custom air handling units from start to finish using engineering drawings, specifications, and build orders\nAssist with assembly of fan sections, coil sections, filter sections, dampers, and related air handling system components\nEarn and apply proper assembly, fastening, sealing, gasketing, and fit-up techniques required for air handling equipment\nUtilize hand tools, pneumatic tools, measuring devices, and standard assembly equipment safely and effectively\nOperate overhead cranes, forklifts, man lifts, and material handling equipment safely and in accordance with company procedures\nPerform basic troubleshooting and resolve simple assembly or fit-up issues while escalating more complex issues appropriately\nMaintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with company standards\nParticipate in cross-training activities to develop skills across multiple assembly stations and processes\nFollow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standards\nSupport continuous improvement initiatives and assist in improving assembly efficiency and workflow\nPerform additional duties as assigned\nWhat we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)\nWe each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:\nRequired Experience\nPrevious manufacturing, mechanical assembly, construction, fabrication, or industrial experience preferred\nBasic mechanical aptitude required\nPrevious experience using hand tools, pneumatic tools, or measuring devices preferred\nAbility to learn blueprint reading and assembly processes required\nForklift, crane, or man lift certification preferred\nAbility to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment required\nStrong commitment to safety and quality standards required\nPreferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nBasic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn mechanical assembly processes\nAbility to follow work instructions, assembly drawings, and verbal direction accurately\nAbility to perform basic assembly, fastening, sealing, and fit-up activities\nAbility to identify and communicate basic assembly issues or material concerns appropriately\nAbility to safely utilize hand tools, pneumatic tools, measuring devices, and standard assembly equipment\nAbility to operate overhead cranes, forklifts, man lifts, and material handling equipment safely and effectively\nAbility to develop blueprint reading and assembly interpretation skills\nAbility to learn modular assembly processes and air handling system configurations\nAbility to maintain quality and attention to detail while meeting developing productivity expectations\nPhysical Requirements\nThe physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. \nReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.\nLifting up to 50 pounds; 50+ pounds with assistance\nSitting, standing, walking, bending, grasping, pushing, pulling, crawling, climbing, twisting, reaching, working at heights, and using a ladder as required\nAbility of use both hands overhead\nPerform repetitive motions\nPlant environment with potential exposure to all types of weather, including excessive heat, excessive cold, and excessive noise\nEducation & Certifications\nHigh School diploma or equivalent\nWorking Environment, Schedule and Travel\nNormal work hours (4 - 10 hour days: Mon - Thurs)\nMust be flexible to work overtime as required, including occasional evenings or weekends.\nHow we live our culture\nOur culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
