With cooling towers, fans, and refrigeration units, companies rely on brands like Marley, Recold, and SGS to provide comfort and mission critical and industrial cooling solutions.\nEngineering Development Program\nThe SPX Engineering Development Program (EDP) is created around the principle of hiring the best and most talented people, and then providing the necessary means for them to constantly learn, be challenged, mentored, and successful. The EDP is the premier entry point in SPX for either product design engineers or manufacturing engineers who have recently earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering, or a Master’s Degree in Engineering. During the course of the two-year development program, the engineer will be given four distinct developmental assignments and should take part in advanced professional training and/or related certification(s) that will be made available by SPX. The EDP begins in June of each year and positions are available in numerous locations throughout SPX.\nKey exposures to engineering executives and business unit operational leaders\nThe EDP rotations provide significant exposure to the business unit’s senior management team and engineering leaders, in addition to company executives and corporate leaders. Rotations are designed around a business unit’s specific needs along with objectives unique to each engineer. These rotations will provide a “big picture” view of the SPX business at the same time offering hands-on, real experiences that aim to sharpen your engineering skills in multiple technical areas.\nRotations may include\nLean Manufacturing\nSupply Chain\nQuality Engineering\nLine / Cell Supervision\nProcess Engineering\nProduction and Inventory\nProject Management / Engineering\nProduct Development\nProduct Design\nApplications Engineering\nProduct Management / Marketing\nObjectives of engineering rotations\nThe EDP rotations and developmental assignments will be established to help ensure that each participating engineer is:\nGiven significant and increasingly challenging professional assignments as the rotation progresses\nProvided distinct work assignments with specific, measureable goals outlined in a detailed rotation plan\nProfessionally prepared to add value in their designated assignment at program’s completion\nAble to fully embrace the organization’s culture and environment while embodying the SPX Mission, Vision and Values\nAssigned a mentor at the beginning of their assignments who will be responsible for assisting in their development during the program\nProvided regular intervals of formal and informal feedback throughout each assignment to ensure continued growth\nDevelopment of competencies\nLeadership / Influencing\nSelf-motivation\nTeamwork / Business Partnering\nJudgment / Problem-solving\nInnovation / Business Maturity\nCommunication\nCross-functional Learning\nRequired experience and skills\nA Bachelor’s Degree in Structural Engineering with a GPA of 3.0 or higher\nRelevant internship / co-op experience (professional experience in manufacturing is desired)\nAdaptable, flexible and able to work in changing work environments\nWillingness to travel to or potentially reside in different geographic locations during the program\nStrong analytical and communication skills, technical knowledge, mathematical skills, and problem-solving skills\nAbility to work in a team-oriented environment that is fast-paced and challenging\nSelf-directed, excellent initiative, strong organizational and communication skills\nExhibit strong ability to handle multiple demands with a sense of urgency, and willingness to learn\n\nHow we live our culture\nOur culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
