As a Buyer, you will be critical to the company’s success by effectively managing the purchase order process, maintaining optimal inventory levels, and ensuring timely delivery of products. As a key member of the purchasing team, you will follow up on outstanding receipts for purchase orders, expedite purchase order changes, and will be integral to projects related to purchasing and inventory control. The successful Buyer will have expertise in procurement processes as well as strong organizational and communication skills.\nWhat you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)\nWhile each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:\nPurchase Orders & Buying Strategies\nIssue and manage purchase orders in alignment with demand forecasts, inventory targets, and production schedules.\nMonitor and track outstanding purchase orders to ensure timely receipt of products.\nCollaborate with vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve any issues or delays to ensure inventory availability and timely delivery.\nUpdate purchase order information as needed (cost, quantity, delivery date).\nCoordinate with internal teams to implement necessary modifications and ensure accurate order fulfilment.\nCommunicate delivery times and updates through appropriate channels, such as in SAP or via reporting.\nMaintain accurate records, including purchase orders and supplier information.\nFoster positive relationships with suppliers, acting as a key point of contact for inquiries and issue resolution.\nInventory Control and Reporting\nCollaborate with others (manufacturing, sourcing, engineering) to maintain accurate inventory levels.\nMonitor stock levels, identify discrepancies, and proactively address shortages or excesses.\nAnalyze purchasing data, supplier performance levels, purchase history, and cost trends.\nIdentify opportunities to optimize inventory levels and provide insights to management to support decision making processes and improvements.\nContinuous Improvement:\nIdentify gaps in current processes and take initiative to develop and implement better procurement, planning and supply chain practices.\nChallenge existing ways of working and recommend more efficient or scalable solutions.\nSupport sourcing activities such as RFQs and supplier transitions, resulting in cost reduction, supply reliability improvements and total value enhancements.\nParticipate in other projects as assigned that relate to the overall goals of the department and organization.\nWhat we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)\nWe each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:\nRequired Experience\n5+ years of buying/purchasing experience within a manufacturing and/or multi-site environment. \nStrong experience with ERP systems - SAP preferred.\nStrong knowledge of procurement processes, inventory control, and supply chain principles.\nAnalytical mindset with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.\nAbility to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-driven environment.\nExcellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.\nPreferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nExperience in sourcing activities such as supplier negotiations, total cost of ownership, supplier strategy, and developing and maintaining supplier relationships.\nKnowledge of continuous improvement methodologies such as Kaizens, Lean and Six Sigma.\nProven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with internal stakeholders.\nDetail-oriented approach, ensuring accuracy and completeness in data entry and reporting.\nProficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), particularly Excel for data analytics.\nEducation & Certifications\nBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.\nTravel & Working Environment\nOffice Environment\nTravel less than 10%\nHow we live our culture\nOur culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
