The Construction Project Engineer is a pivotal position within SPX Cooling. The position plays a key role in coordinating project creation, scheduling, and budgeting to ensure the successful execution of construction projects. This will require expertise in project management software and a solid understanding of construction drawings and specifications to ensure accurate implementation. The incumbent will assist project managers with execution plans, monitoring progress and providing stakeholder updates, managing material demands and costs, and supporting project closeout activities.\nThe successful incumbent effectively manages a challenging workload and as needed, delegates tasks to others in supporting roles. Success in this role demands outstanding organizational, project planning, project management, and communication skills.\nWhat you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)\nWhile each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:\nProject Coordination and Execution\nCreate projects and enter orders in SAP while assisting Project Managers in developing execution plans and generating presentations.\nSchedule projects using Microsoft Project or Primavera P6 and ensure construction activities align with drawings and specifications.\nGenerate, review, and distribute submittals while providing regular progress updates, including client-specific reports, S-curve analysis, and daily onsite updates.\nBudgeting, Cost Management, and Materials\nReview estimates to develop accurate budgets, assist in departmental budgeting, and track daily project costs.\nManage change orders, material demands, deliveries, and missing materials while preparing subcontractor scopes of work.\nAnalyse job site productivity, identify risks and opportunities, and support supplemental work order tracking.\n Onsite Support and Project \nProvide secondary project management support, with 50%+ travel for major outages.\nOversee project closeout, including collection and distribution of O&M manuals.\nWhat we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)\nWe each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:\nRequired Experience & Skills\n1-3 years of construction management experience, or related role\nCustomer focused.\nIdeal Experience & Skills\nExperience with HVAC, industrial processes, or power plants, as well as engineering documents, preferred\nProficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.\nProficiency in in Primavera or Microsoft Project scheduling software\nStrong time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively\nAbility to read and interpret blueprint and construction drawings\nKnowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards\nExperience in project coordination and contract administration\nAbility to communicate effectively verbally\nEducation & Certifications\nBachelor’s degree in construction management, or related field\nTravel & Working Environment\nOnsite office environment, Monday - Friday; Hybrid work schedule available after satisfactory completion of probationary period.\nThe position may require working occasionally outside normal work hours. \nOccasional outside environment; exposure to excessive noise, heat, or bad weather.\nKeyboarding/typing.\nOccasional lifting up to 30 pounds.\nAbility to read effectively from a computer screen and/or a paper copy.\nAbility to handle a large volume of work and perform multiples tasks in a fast-paced environment.\nHow we live our culture\nOur culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
