As the Payroll Manger, you will be responsible for overseeing accurate and timely payroll and tax processing for our U.S., Canadian, Mexican and South African employees.\nThis role provides leadership and oversight for global payroll operations, including payroll processing, payroll tax compliance, vendor management, audit support, and regulatory adherence. The ideal candidate will bring deep payroll expertise, strong people leadership skills, and a proven ability to manage complex payroll operations while delivering a high-quality employee experience.\nWhat you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)\nWhile each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:\n1. Payroll Management:\nOversee end-to-end payroll processing for US, Canadian, Mexican and South African employees, ensuring accuracy and adherence to company policies and government regulations.\nReview and validate timekeeping records, employee deductions, and other payroll-related data to ensure accurate calculations.\nEnsure compliance with federal, state, and provincial regulations, including tax withholding, garnishments, and statutory deductions.\nManage processing of payroll taxes and resolve any state/federal notices, manage new tax account setup.\nPerform periodic audits to validate payroll data, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal controls and external regulations.\n2. Team Supervision and Collaboration:\nLead and supervise a team responsible for payroll administration and providing guidance, training, performance feedback, and workload prioritization.\nCollaborate with HR, HRIS, Finance, and other departments to ensure seamless integration of payroll data with other systems and processes.\nMaintain effective communication with employees and provide assistance in resolving payroll-related inquiries or issues.\n3. Payroll Process Improvement\nUtilize payroll and HR systems effectively, ensuring data accuracy, system integrity, and efficiency.\nIdentify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and standardization.\nStay current on changes in payroll legislation, tax regulations, labor laws, and HR compliance regulations, ensuring best practices are embedded in payroll processes.\nWhat we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)\nWe each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who:\nRequired Experience & Skills\nAt least 5 years of experience in payroll and payroll tax administration\nStrong understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and employment standard\nExcellent analytical skills and attention to detail\nStrong problem-solving abilities and the ability to handle confidential and sensitive information\nIdeal Experience & Skills\nExperience managing and supervising a team of payroll administrators\nExperience using Ceridian Dayforce\nExperience processing union and pension payrolls\nEducation & Certifications\nBachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred\nCertified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation or other relevant certifications are a plus\nTravel & Working Environment\nOccasional travel might be required for this role\nHybrid work schedule\nHow we live our culture\nOur culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
