By creating high quality equipment and payment systems to improve the rider experience, we empower equitable mobility and provide services to better connect communities.\nHow you will make an Impact (Job Summary)\nThe Operations Buyer supports day-to-day purchasing activities to ensure materials and services are available to meet production and operational needs. This role works closely with Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Suppliers to execute purchase orders, track deliveries, and help resolve supply issues. It is an excellent entry point for building a career in supply chain and procurement. This role provides exposure to supplier management, MRP planning, and cross-functional operations. Successful candidates can grow into roles such as Senior Buyer, Strategic Sourcing, or Supply Chain Planner.\nWhat you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)\nWhile each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:\nCreate and process purchase orders in the ERP system based on MRP and operational demand\nManage order acknowledgements, track supplier deliveries, and follow up on delays\nCommunicate daily with suppliers regarding pricing, lead times, and availability\nCommunicate outcomes of supplier discussions to Planning, Warehouse, Quality, and other relevant teams\nCollaborate with Warehouse and Receiving teams to confirm supplier deliveries align with purchase orders\nSupport inventory management by helping maintain appropriate stock levels\nAssist in resolving invoice discrepancies, receiving issues, and basic supplier issues\nMaintain and update supplier master data accurately and in a timely manner, including contacts, addresses, lead times, and pricing\nEscalate supply risks or shortages to senior buyers or sourcing team\nSupport audits, documentation, and compliance requirements\nRun supplier performance reports, including on-time delivery (OTD), and provide reports to Buyers and Sourcing team for review and follow-up\nAssist with supplier onboarding - create new supplier records in ERP, Coordinate supplier Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) with the Contracts team as required\nSchedule Microsoft Teams meetings with suppliers as directed by Senior Buyers or the Supervisor\nSupport sourcing activities as needed\nWhat we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)\nWe each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:\nRequired Experience\n0-2 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or operations (internship experience welcome)\nStrong organizational and follow-up skills\nBasic understanding of supply chain and purchasing concepts\nProficiency with Microsoft Excel; ERP experience a plus\nStrong written and verbal communication skills\nPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nAttention to detail and accuracy\nSense of urgency and accountability\nWillingness to learn and ask questions\nAbility to manage multiple priorities\nTeam-oriented and collaborative mindset\nEducation & Certifications\nHigh school diploma or equivalent job experience\nTravel & Working Environment\nOffice-based role with occasional remote flexibility. 4 day office requirement\nFast-paced, cross-functional environment requiring strong organization and communication\nOccasional extended hours may be needed to support global projects and deadlines\nThe compensation information that follows is a reasonable estimate for the position and is provided pursuant to legal requirements in this state. The salary estimate provided represents the typical salary range for the position, and other factors may be used to determine the successful candidate’s actual salary, including: skill set, experience, training, education, organizational needs, internal equity, market data, and geographic zone. The estimated salary range for this position is: $53,100 - $60,000. At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors. This role is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus plan, subject to the rules governing the plan.
