As the Product Engineer Intern, you will have the opportunity to contribute to real-world projects that support innovation and continuous improvement across our engineering teams. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience in R&D, product development, mechanical and electrical design, and engineering support for electric heating solutions.\nYou will be assigned meaningful projects that may include product design, testing, process improvement, or technical documentation - all with the goal of enhancing product performance, supporting customer needs, and advancing SPX’s commitment to quality and innovation.\nWhat you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)\nWhile specific projects will vary, your responsibilities may include:\n1. Design & Development\nAssist in preparing engineering drawings, schematics, and documentation.\nSupport prototype builds, modifications, and testing activities.\nCollaborate with engineers to ensure designs meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards.\n2. Testing & Experimentation\nParticipate in lab or field testing of components and products.\nOperate test equipment and record accurate data for analysis.\nDocument test results and provide input on product performance and improvements.\n3. Project & Process Support\nContribute to process improvement initiatives to enhance product design, manufacturability, or efficiency.\nAssist with engineering change documentation and project tracking.\nSupport sourcing, materials evaluation, or supplier collaboration efforts.\n4. Cross-Functional Collaboration\nWork with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and commercial teams to address engineering challenges.\nAssist in preparing technical reports, presentations, or updates for leadership.\nLearn to navigate project lifecycles from concept through testing and production.\nWhat we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)\nWe each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:\nRequired Experience\nStrong time management, organization, and attention to detail.\nProblem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new tools and concepts.\nClear written and verbal communication skills; collaboration in a team setting.\nFamiliarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office.\nPreferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nExperience with business systems (e.g., ERP/CRM/CPQ) or analytics tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI) is a plus.\nEducation & Certifications\nCurrently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.\nTravel & Working Environment\nHybrid schedule\nOffice-based environment \nHow we live our culture\nOur culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
