As a Program Manager, you will provide leadership for assigned engineering programs, managing program schedules, resources, and funding to ensure timely completion of Stage-Gate deliverables consistent with product strategy, quality, safety, performance, schedule, and cost requirements. You will lead cross-functional program teams, establish project objectives and detailed schedules, identify and manage program risks, and maintain accountability for execution throughout the program lifecycle.\nSuccess in this role requires strong communication, leadership, technical, and organizational skills, along with the ability to apply effective problem-solving techniques to identify, resolve, and document issues associated with complex cross-functional programs.\nWhat you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)\nWhile each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:\nProgram Planning & Execution\nEstablish project objectives, policies, procedures, performance standards, and comprehensive program schedules within the boundaries of company policies and project specifications.\nDefine program Stage-Gate deliverables, funding requirements, and resource loading.\nDevelop and maintain detailed program timelines using appropriate project scheduling and tracking tools.\nManage execution against established program schedules by leading Program Teams and facilitating communication and interaction among cross-functional representatives.\nTrack programs against schedules, budgets, and Stage-Gate deliverables to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with established requirements.\nDevelop and implement corrective measures for schedule deviations, unexpected conditions, and other issues affecting program execution.\nEnsure program activities support the introduction of products that meet or exceed company quality standards and established technical, safety, performance, schedule, and cost requirements.\nProgram Risk, Reviews & Reporting\nIdentify and manage program risks in partnership with the Program Team, including risk prioritization and development of mitigation plans.\nFacilitate program reviews and Stage-Gate reviews, including preparation of required documentation and refinement of supporting systems and processes.\nMonitor program progress and provide regular status updates to the Lead Program Manager and updates to executive leadership as needed.\nIdentify, resolve, and document issues affecting cross-functional program execution.\nDevelop graphs, tables, PivotTables, and other reports using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and related business tools to communicate program status and performance.\n3. Cross-Functional Leadership & Coordination\nCoordinate with customers through Marketing and Sales to provide appropriate program status information and obtain customer feedback.\nUnderstand and interpret product strategies to ensure program execution remains aligned with business and product objectives.\nCommunicate effectively with internal and external customers at all levels of the organization through clear written, verbal, and interpersonal communication.\nMaintain awareness of the technical and administrative aspects of all phases of project and program management.\n4. Technical & Operational Support\nApply knowledge of mechanical engineering techniques, sheet-metal fabrication, and high-volume assembly processes in support of assigned programs.\nMaintain general knowledge of operations, including scheduling, procurement, manufacturing, product testing, marketing, and quality systems.\nUse technical knowledge and cross-functional input to support effective problem-solving and program decision-making.\nPerform other related duties and responsibilities as required to support program and organizational objectives.\nWhat we are looking for (Experience, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education)\nWe each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:\nRequired Experience\nEight (8) or more years of relevant industrial experience in a technical role.\nFive (5) or more years of program/project and people management experience.\nKnowledge of the technical and administrative aspects of all phases of project management.\nDemonstrated ability to develop comprehensive program schedules, detailed timelines, resource plans, and project tracking mechanisms.\nExperience leading cross-functional teams and coordinating activities across multiple functional disciplines.\nDemonstrated ability to identify, prioritize, resolve, and document program risks and issues.\nStrong organizational skills, including effective follow-up on individual responsibilities and assigned Program Team actions.\nStrong written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.\nDemonstrated teamwork and leadership abilities, including persistence when addressing complex problems.\nAbility to understand and interpret product strategies and translate them into program requirements and execution priorities.\nGeneral knowledge of operations, including scheduling, procurement, manufacturing, product testing, marketing, and quality systems.\nProficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with the ability to develop graphs, tables, PivotTables, reports, and presentations.\nSound business acumen.\nPreferred Experience, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities\nExperience managing complex engineering or new product development programs within an industrial or manufacturing environment.\nKnowledge of mechanical engineering techniques, sheet-metal fabrication, and high-volume assembly processes.\nExperience utilizing formal project scheduling and tracking tools.\nExperience facilitating Stage-Gate or similar structured product-development processes.\nAbility to communicate effectively with internal and external customers at all levels of an organization.\nEducation & Certifications\nBachelor's degree in a technical discipline required.\nMBA preferred.\nProject or program management certification preferred.\nSix Sigma techniques and methodology certification preferred.\n\nPhysical Demands\nThe demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.\nFrequent computer and keyboard use with continuous use of computer monitors and project-management systems.\nAbility to remain seated for extended periods while participating in meetings, developing project plans, reviewing technical information, and preparing reports.\nFrequent verbal communication and presentation of program information to individuals and groups.\nAbility to perform light physical activity as required when supporting engineering and manufacturing operations.\nAbility to access manufacturing and production areas and wear required personal protective equipment\nTravel & Working Environment\nPrimarily a professional office environment with periodic work in manufacturing and production environments.\nFrequent interaction with Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Product Testing, Marketing, Quality, and other cross-functional stakeholders.\nManufacturing environments require appropriate personal protective equipment, including foot, eye, and hearing protection as applicable.\nTravel may be required based on program, customer, supplier, or business needs.\nHow we live our culture\nOur culture is at the center of what we do and, more importantly, who we are.
